CATL Launches First Ever 'Superfast Charging' Battery—Is This The Future of EVs?

Will we see it soon?

Chinese tech firm Contemporary Amperex Technology Limited (CATL) has finally revealed the first superfast charging LFP battery in the world.

During the 2023 product launch event, the company boasts that it can deliver more than 700 km of range from 10-minute charging.

With its production starting this year, should we soon see it as the future of electric vehicles?

CATL envisions that more EV owners could soon abandon their worries when it comes to the range of their cars. Because it has become a concern to some car owners, CATL has come up with a powerful solution to solve this problem.

According to The Independent, the newest lithium-ion battery from CATL will shed light on the gleaming future of EVs.

The EV battery giant is not just known for selling batteries, but also other car-related OEM products to the Chinese automakers and their global counterparts such as Tesla, BMW, and Volkswagen.

The world's superfast charging battery is expected to undergo production this year. With its remarkable build, you can't go wrong with what it can do.

As New Atlas writes in its report, CATL boasts that this powerful battery can hold "twice as much energy per weight as a Tesla Model Y battery at a remarkable 500 Wh/kg."

That's not the only thing that the company is capable of achieving. In fact, it also supplied the special edition of Zeekr 001 with a "Qilin" battery which runs at 140 KWh.

Charging From 0 to 80% in 10 Minutes

Where can you find an EV battery that can power up your car from 0 to 80% in less than 30 minutes? That's right, it's only at CATL.

The China-based battery manufacturer says that this promising battery contains a "fully nano-crystallized lithium iron phosphate cathode material" that can construct a super-electronic network, paving the way for faster charging signals.

CATL adds that it has deployed the graphite electrodes with "fast ion ring" technology. That's not all you can get from this ultrafast battery. The company also touts that the new "superconducting electrolyte formula" helps ions to move faster and charge at a more rapid rate.

In just 10 minutes, EV owners can achieve up to 249 miles or 400 km of driving range. That's only for a single charge. If you're worried that the extreme cold condition can affect the battery, CATL guarantees it won't be affected. It will still overdeliver its charging prowess at its full power.

At the time, CATL had not yet unveiled other details about the battery including the total capacity of the pack and more.

The Shenxing battery will definitely dictate the game for EVs in the next few years. The only thing we need to do is to wait for the trial once the production finishes.
