DoorDash Advises You to Tip Upon Ordering or Drivers Might Not Take Your Booking

If you are experiencing a slow order, it may be because of tips.

The service delivered by DoorDash still depends on their drivers' performance, and they can decide on which bookings to take, which is why the company advised tipping upon ordering for more chances of getting accommodated. It is widely known that tipping is required here in the country, but DoorDash said that adding tips beforehand could motivate the driver to take your order instead of others.

The Verge reported that DoorDash is now encouraging users to tip when booking their order via the app, and this is because they want the drivers to be motivated whenever taking a job or accepting it via the app.

When using the app and putting $0 on the tip feature, DoorDash would show a prompt that says "Orders with no tip might take longer to get delivered - are you sure you want to continue?"

According to Brian Krassenstein, there are different arguments for this, first, DoorDash may encourage users to do so, but they may also hide the tip amount until it is completed. However, he regarded that he likes to tip after the service is done and base the amount on their service to the customer.

Faster Booking? Tipping is Key says DoorDash

DoorDash spokesperson Jenn Rosenberg said, "As independent contractors, Dashers have full freedom to accept or reject offers based on what they view as valuable and rewarding."

Furthermore, Rosenberg explains the importance of tips for delivery workers to be motivated, saying "While the vast majority of customers do leave a tip, offers that don't include a tip can be seen as less desirable - this impacts our entire community, leading to longer wait times for customers, orders sitting longer at merchants, and less value for Dashers."

DoorDash and the Delivery Experience

For many years now, DoorDash has been one of the most famous companies in the country, the go-to app for all-day or all-night cravings to be satisfied by the Dashers, its drivers, collecting and delivering it for users. However, it was previously found that DoorDash allegedly overcharges iOS users more than others, with the company already facing a lawsuit regarding this.

Apart from DoorDash appeasing customers with its app and services, the company also looks to maintain a good relationship with its so-called Dashers, especially as they are the backbone of its labor. A feature was recently introduced by the company where drivers and delivery workers are now given the chance to block future deliveries from rude customers they come across.

DoorDash does not only cater to customers, but also to its drivers, and this is the reality for logistics companies that offer the same service, alongside those like it. Now, DoorDash gives users a tip on how to get their orders recognized immediately or prioritized by delivery workers, and it is through tipping them with either a handsome or appropriate fee when booking an order.
