The German sports car company, Porsche, has recently announced its upcoming offers that will feature Google native apps to its vehicles in the future, centering on integrating the experience in every drive. This centers on support for Google's built-in apps and features, centering on native Android apps available with over-the-air software updates for the driver.
Its new decision is amidst the massive struggles of Volkswagen in fixing its software issues, with the parent company still looking to sort out its problems.
Porsche to Add Native Google Apps for Cars
The future of Porsche's experience will see native Google and Android apps on its in-car infotainment systems, with the company recently confirming via its release, claiming that it will start working on it by the middle of the decade. It remains unknown when Porsche will release the experience to users, but its production will start by 2025, and is less than two years from now.
"Our customers fulfill a dream with our vehicles. In addition to timeless design and exceptional performance, they also want a seamless digital experience. This blended ecosystem results from the integration of platforms and apps that customers know from their end devices," says Oliver Blume, Chairman of the Executive Board of Porsche AG.
Is this an Answer to Volkswagen's Issues?
The apps coming to Porsche soon will include "Google Maps, Google Assistant, and a wide variety of apps available through the Google Play Store."
According to The Verge, Volkswagen is currently facing issues in fixing its software, also facing delays in the release of its new architecture amidst a planned 2,000 layoffs for its software provider, Cariad.
Porsche and the Big Tech Experiences
Apart from being one of the most renowned car brands in the world for performance cars, Porsche has made a name for itself in modern times because of its willingness to stay in offering Apple's CarPlay to users. The company has integrated various vehicle functions into the CarPlay experience that it made available in the past, offering users a chance to enjoy more from the feature.
Many companies have let go of different Big Tech features on their cars, with General Motors infamous for letting go of CarPlay in favor of Google-built infotainment systems, and Tesla going all-in for its self-made system.
However, Porsche previously reiterated that adding CarPlay to the device means that users may get to maximize their drive, and being that Apple is among the most famous in the world, its smartphones may connect easily to Porsche cars.
With CarPlay being a massive tech found among Porsche cars, the company did not stop there with its recent announcements for Google. Soon, Porsche owners will get to enjoy native Google and Android apps on its infotainment systems, with the company fixing its infrastructure despite Volkswagen's problems.
