For two years now, the Porsche Macan's electric version has stayed as a prototype, and the company is still developing this clean energy version of its premiere SUV. While the ICEs are available now, the future availability of its electric SUV version will have both available on sale, giving the buyers a dilemma over which car to get in the future.
The good thing is that users still have a lot of time to think their decision over, particularly as Porsches do not come in cheap and affordable.
Porsche Macan EV is Coming Soon
Back in 2021, Porsche unveiled the camouflaged Porsche Macan to the world, and this is the all-electric version of the luxury SUV which was still a prototype. Fast forward to two years later, Porsche has yet to deliver the all-electric Macan, centering on the next-generation vehicle that moves away from its combustion engine beginnings.
Engadget recently shared a video of their hands-on experience on the all-electric Macan and revealed the specs they were able to get from the drive. First off, it can push as many as 600 horses from its drivetrain and also features the same crossover SUV body that the ICE Macan has.
However, for now, the exact EPA range of the electric Macan remains unknown, with Engadget claiming it can bring as much as 250 miles on a single charge. This is not a lot for an EV in this generation, and it already features a starting price of $90,000.
Porsche Macan: Electric and ICE
The Porsche Macan's electric version is coming soon, but unlike other make and models that deliver the revamp as an EV, the German automaker will bring both its Electric and ICE versions for sale, side by side. This means that users will get to have various choices between the traditional combustion engine and the modern, battery-powered vehicle.
Porsche's Electric Revolution
The renowned German luxury and performance brand, Porsche, is not exactly in a rush to bring electric vehicles to the world unlike its parent company, Volkswagen, and other rivals. However, this does not mean that the company has no plans to bring such technology to the world, as in the list of the most iconic EVs in the world, there is the Porsche Taycan.
Various projects and developments are underway for Porsche, and one of its most famous cars in the lineup, the vehicle that came to be known as the Carrera, is set to be a 911 Hybrid.
There is also the all-electric 718 Boxter which was spotted as a prototype when it was out for a road test, with the vehicle remaining under wraps.
The electric revolution is slowly seen from Porsche, with the company transitioning renowned models into clean energy cars, soon getting its premium SUV with batteries. While the Porsche Macan EV is not yet here, users can already decide now if what they would get is either the battery-powered one or the ICE, but with time running out towards the end of the decade, the choice is clear.
