Nvidia RTX 4080 Super Graphics Card Spotted in Another Sighting—Is it Finally Coming in Early 2024?

The refreshed RTX 4080 could sit at $999 just to compete with AMD.

Nvidia's forthcoming RTX 4080 Super graphics card has made an intriguing appearance within a popular system monitoring tool, sparking anticipation for its potential launch in the near future.

In a recent finding, it was spotted again this time, but on a different listing.

The discovery of the GeForce RTX 4080 Super listing in HWiNFO has sent ripples of excitement through the tech community, Tom's Hardware observed.

Positioned under the "upcoming changes" section, the entry states: "Added Nvidia GeForce RTX 4080 Super." This follows a recent spotting of the RTX 4080 Super in a PCI ID repository earlier in the week.

According to TechRadar, the abundance of such sightings adds weight to the notion that Nvidia is preparing Super variants of its graphics cards, an idea that has been circulating for some time now.

Rumors are rife about these Super refreshes, which may also include revamped RTX 4070 models.

Competing with AMD's RX 7900 Series

While this isn't irrefutable confirmation of the RTX 4080 Super's arrival, the mounting evidence suggests that Nvidia indeed has Super variants in the pipeline.

The backdrop to this speculation is Nvidia's current situation, particularly the underwhelming performance of the RTX 4080, which reportedly experienced lackluster sales. In contrast, AMD's RX 7900 models have flourished.

Nvidia's response seems logical - address the lackluster performance of the RTX 4080 by introducing Super versions. The dynamics surrounding the RTX 4080 have raised eyebrows, especially with the ill-fated "unlaunched" version featuring 12GB of VRAM, which garnered criticism.

To remain competitive in the upper midrange to high-end market, Nvidia appears poised to breathe new life into the RTX 4080 and 4070.

When Can We See Nvidia RTX 4080 Super?

Initial reports suggest Nvidia could adopt a pricing strategy that challenges AMD, potentially offering the RTX 4080 Super at $999, effectively replacing the RTX 4080.

The RTX 4070 Super could be priced at $599, underscoring Nvidia's intent to compete vigorously in the market.

However, it's crucial to note that Nvidia hasn't finalized pricing or exact specifications. The ambiguity surrounding specifications suggests that the refreshed Lovelace graphics cards may still be some time away. Yet, there is growing anticipation that these products could materialize earlier than anticipated, with the Super moniker appearing in various references.

Fans are crossing their fingers for a sooner-than-expected release, combined with competitive pricing that could position these offerings favorably in the hierarchy of the best graphics cards available.

When it comes to the RTX 4080's successor, reports say that RTX 4090 Ti won't be released. Instead, only the mid-range GPUs, such as the refreshed RTX 4060 and RTX 4070, will make their way to the market.

Elsewhere, the chipmaker is planning to rival Apple's M-series after several reports say that it's now developing ARM-based chips. Right now, Nvidia is "quietly" working on this technology that is designed for Windows PCs.
