Meta Threads ‘Just Under’ 100M Users says Mark Zuckerberg—Expected to Grow More

Threads may be the next massive app for Meta.

It is almost five months since Meta released Threads for all to enjoy, and in this short time, the app has "just under" 100 million subscribers said its CEO, Mark Zuckerberg. This was recently unveiled in the company's third-quarter earnings call, seeing significant performance from the app and a glimmer of hope for its future where it will grow more with many users worldwide.

Meta's third quarter 2023 earnings call had Mark Zuckerberg addressing investors about how successful Threads is now, with the app "just under" 100 million active monthly subscribers and growing. The promising performance of Threads is a key to its future operations and this is something which the Meta CEO highlighted among the investors and its company.

Engagements have seen significant performance over the past weeks, and this was after Meta's new features available for the Threads app. It is also notable that the many changes on Elon Musk's X have helped pave the way for Threads to attract more users to join or use the app.

"I thought for a long time, that there should be a billion-person public conversations app that is a bit more positive and I think that if we keep at this for a few more years, then I think we have a good chance of achieving our vision there," said Zuckerberg.

Mark Zuckerberg Thinks Threads Will Grow

Apart from this report of Thread's growing numbers, Zuck also regarded that the app would grow in the future, and if the company keeps on doing what it did, there is a high chance that it will achieve its goal. It was reported that Meta's goal for Threads is to reach 1 billion users in the coming years, with Zuckerberg and Meta optimistic that it will happen soon.

Meta and the Threads App

One of the main goals of Threads is to provide a rivaling platform to the world, facing up against the established tech and social media giant, X, formerly known as Twitter, under Elon Musk. Zuck and Musk's rivalry has led to this, with Threads offering new features like offering Trending Topics content whenever visiting the Search tab, offering the latest there is for a user.

There was also a report where Threads would focus on offering positive content for users on the platform, opposing the usual rundown of news depending on the region. However, Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri has defended this focus, saying that Threads would not be 'anti-news' as what the initial focus would be, particularly as it would be controlling the content on its platform.

Meta's Threads is still growing in the present, and while it saw 100 million sign-ups during its first week, engagements and users returning to the platform significantly died down, highlighting that there is still a lot of work for its success. Zuckerberg and Meta are expecting the growth of Threads to happen in the future, with the 1 billion users goal said to be possible soon.
