Meta's CEO and Instagram CEO announced the latest features on Threads now, centering on an "Edit Button" which will allow its users to change the texts on their posts for free. Yes, this Threads feature will not require users to pay or subscribe to any Premium services to get this feature, unlike that of Elon Musk's X which requires an X Premium subscription for it.
Alongside this, both executives also announced another feature on Threads that will allow users to post their direct voice recordings on the app.
Threads Offer 'Edit Button' to its Users for Free
Mark Zuckerberg shared a new short, but insightful announcement via Threads today, confirming two new features to arrive on the text-based version of Instagram. One of these two features is iconic, particularly as it introduces the Edit Button on the platform that offers a way for users to change texts, typos, messages, context, and more on what they have already posted.
This feature is available to use for free, and no subscriptions or further payments are needed to enjoy it.
Users who wish to edit their Threads posts have up to five minutes to change what they wish to appear, but it will not be available after the time limit elapsed. As opposed to X, Premium users have up to an hour to edit their posts, but it is with a price.
Moreover, Threads will not show the edit history of the changes made, unlike X which will show what was redacted or edited.
Voice Posts Also Available on Threads
On the other hand, Adam Mosseri's post shows screenshot previews of both these features, as well as its latest Voice Posts feature that joins alongside the launch of its Edit Button.
Here, users may share their thoughts without the need to type it all in the platform, with the post containing a voice recording made in the app for all to hear.
Meta's Threads Features Now
Threads was an app that was meant to bring the Meta platform a channel for all text and media, a side of Instagram that focuses on the other part of the internet where X dominated. Recently, it released the web version of the app, and this was after massive promises from its executives for this feature to arrive, allowing better accessibility for those who prefer using the app via computers.
It is one of the many alternatives for X now, but Threads stepped up to become the rival of the platform formerly known as Twitter, with its executives also not backing down from fights.
Massive features were added since it was launched including reposting, direct DMs to Instagram, a chronological feed option, and more.
Users are now loving what Threads has to offer, particularly as it features helpful features that do not require subscriptions to use, and is significantly unlike its rival's focus. The new Threads' Edit Button and Voice Posts expand more of its capabilities and features available for all to access, with Zuckerberg and Mosseri sharing it via the platform and garnering positive remarks.
