Twitch Adds ‘Stories’ Feature to App, Expiring in 48 Hours—But There’s a Catch to Use It

The vertical format will be available for 48 hours on Twitch.

Like Snapchat, Instagram, Facebook, and more, Twitch is now joining in the vertical expiring media trend as it unveils the Stories feature to be part of the streaming platform. The company aims for this latest feature to be part of what it offers to the public, keeping more of its audience engaged with the content creators and Twitch partners in the platform, 48 hours before the media expires.

This feature is now available for Twitch partners and the audience to see, but it would mostly center on creators and affiliates opting in on the posts.

Twitch Adds Stories Feature, Live Now

Twitch Stories for Creators
Twitch

First announced in July, Twitch is now letting the world know that Stories on its platform are live now, available for those who want to share more of their content or other information to fans and the audience following them on the platform. It is important to note that these Stories on Twitch are exclusive to creators regarding uploads, with their availability accessible by subscribers.

Twitch said that it holds no-barred content apart from those that would violate its community guidelines, as creators may post about their next stream, vacation photos, or share inspirational content with followers.

This feature centers on "keep your community engaged" says Twitch, offering a chance to send updates wherever the creators are.

Twitch Stories Eligibility for Creators

Creators and Affiliates of Twitch can exclusively post and utilize this feature on the platform, and it requires them to have had at least one stream in the past 30 days. Moreover, creators with at least 30 subscribers can post "subscriber-only" stories, helping them choose their audience.

The chosen individuals for this feature will be given access from now until the end of the week, as Twitch is rolling out the feature. Eligibility requirements may also be viewed on Twitch's website for more information about this feature.

Stories on Social Media

Stories have become a massive trend on social media, and it is one of the many features of these platforms that keep users engaged, as it would feature more updates and glimpses into a person's life than posts. Snapchat was among the first to offer these Stories features to the world, but its CEO admitted that users engage more with its TikTok-like feature than what it helped popularize.

Another renowned company that also features stories includes Meta, particularly with the Facebook and Instagram platforms for many years now.

Among those who opted in and had it removed from their platforms include Microsoft's LinkedIn which introduced it last 2021 and also ended in the same year, alongside the platform previously known as Twitter with Fleets.

Streaming platforms may not yet be massive on the vertical Stories, but the latest one to feature it is Twitch, the Amazon-owned site that is popular for its live content from creators. While it has eligibility requirements for creators, those who are active and have wide fanbases may utilize this feature to give updates and glimpses into their personal lives, and more with Stories.
