The social media platform known as X is now reportedly testing more options on its platform to expand more of its subscription service, adding three paid tiers to its single existing one. Under the X Premium, users can get all of the advanced, significant, and ad-free experiences on the platform for only $8 to $11, depending on the platform they use for payment.
X Now Testing Three More Paid Tiers in its X Premium
Developer and leaker @aaronp613 shared a source code of X which they recently discovered, centering on a revamp of the X Premium subscription service, seeing three paid tiers in it. These three would make up what is now known as the X Premium, currently only offering one subscription tier which would charge users $8 on the web and desktop, and $11 for the mobile.
There are three tiers now, and this includes the X Premium Basic which would feature full ads despite subscribed to the service, the X Premium Standard which would feature half the number of ads present in the previous one, and the X Premium Plus, a subscription that guarantees no ads.
According to a report by Bloomberg, the details of this are still scarce, and it is unknown when the company would enforce this, but seeing as it is in its code, an announcement may be expected.
X is Struggling, Is This the Answer to its Problems?
The report also talked about X's financial struggles now, as despite having subscriptions as its massive source and advertisements available, there is still a lot to worry about. It is unknown if these new tiers would be X's answer to solving its problems, with its pricing still unknown to many.
X's Current Operations Under Elon Musk
Twitter had a good run, but like all good things, there is an end to it.
This was what was seen when Elon Musk took over the platform almost one year ago, particularly as the company went on a massive overhaul of its setup, offers, operations, management, and more. Not only did Musk's changes on X receive massive backlash from the general public, but it also saw a federal lawsuit in its way because of the Twitter rebrand.
From good features to bad, there is a lot to see on X now, centering mostly on its paid subscription tier which also offers the renowned blue verification check, coveted even during the Twitter days. One notable feature here is giving users revenue via their posts alone, with its creator monetization program already paying out as much as $20 million to creators via ads on their threads.
X and Elon Musk, along with the new management and existing team (what was left of it) have greatly changed Twitter, being a platform of its own, but using the technology the old company left behind. Now, the first thing that Musk changed on Twitter is getting three more paid tiers to offer its users, soon having options, particularly more expensive ones.
