Activision Blizzard dropped a bombshell during its annual Call of Duty Next event held on Oct. 5.
PocketGamer.biz reports that the highly anticipated 'Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile,' originally set for release in May 2023, has been delayed yet again, with the new launch window now set for Spring 2024.
This announcement comes as a disappointment to the millions of gamers who pre-registered for the mobile adaptation of the immensely popular battle royale title.
Highly-Anticipated Mobile Release
The initial unveiling of 'Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile' in September 2022 generated a whirlwind of excitement among fans, positioning it as the second mobile installment in the renowned Call of Duty franchise following the success of 'Call of Duty Mobile.'
The key differentiator between the two is the battle royale nature of 'Warzone Mobile,' promising to bring the adrenaline-pumping action of the PC and console versions to mobile gamers.
While crossplay is not on the table, the game offers cross-progression, allowing players to switch between platforms and retain their progress seamlessly.
Launch Delays
The rollercoaster of release dates began when an app store listing initially indicated a May 15, 2023 release. However, the listing was mysteriously updated to Nov. 1, just six days before this anticipated launch.
It is worth noting that Activision Blizzard had not officially confirmed the May 15 date, leading many to believe it was merely a placeholder. With the Spring 2024 delay, fans are left with a longer waiting period, and the reasons behind this significant setback remain hidden.

What We Know
What adds to the intrigue is the extraordinary pre-registration numbers that 'Warzone Mobile' has garnered.
"In celebration of the over 45 million fans who have already pre-registered for Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile, the team announced that in addition to Verdansk, Rebirth Island will make its mobile debut and be available on Day One of the game's worldwide launch," a recent blog post reads.
Another noteworthy development is rumors in March stating that 'Warzone Mobile' would eventually replace 'Call of Duty: Mobile,' relegating the latter to operate solely within the borders of China.
What We Think
However, the delay remains shrouded in uncertainty as no official reason has been provided. It is plausible that the game requires additional development time to meet Activision Blizzard's stringent standards.
More Leaks
While fans eagerly await the Spring 2024 release, there is a glimmer of hope in the form of a 'Warzone Mobile' Day Zero event.
A leak spotted by AFKGaming tells us that this community-focused event will see players collaborating to unlock a variety of in-game rewards, promising an exciting experience for gamers diving into 'Warzone Mobile' for the first time.
The teaser from Activision, which states, "A Community that fights together, earns together! Clear Zones, unlock powerful rewards, and fight for the biggest drop yet," adds to the anticipation.
