Rumors and speculations have centered on a new Steam Deck coming, but unknown to many, Valve is way ahead of these as the company sneakily made its way to file for its FCC certification, believed to be coming soon. This latest discovery confirms that this device will be a refresh to the famed portable handheld gaming console from Valve, believed to be identical here.
Valve Steam Deck Sneaks its Way for FCC Certification
The Verve spotted various reports and posts online that point to the new Valve Steam Deck, particularly as several users claimed it recently received its FCC certification.
Sources including @SadlyItsBradley and @TVKilledMi shared screenshots online, showing the new FCC certifications for the Valve 1030, believed to be the new Steam Deck.
According to The Verge, it was unknown to many before as Valve did not file this under its company name, but used its WiFi and Bluetooth vendor, a company called Quectel, to file for the Steam Deck's certification.
Previously, the Valve 1030 also surfaced on South Korea's National Radio Research Agency, with many speculating it is the new Steam Deck.
Refreshed Valve Steam Deck is Coming
The 1030, a.k.a. the refreshed Valve Steam Deck, was revealed to feature upgraded technology, including improvements on its internet with WiFi 6E, supporting 2.4GHz, 5GHz, and 6GHz. It would also come with BLE (Bluetooth 5.2).
Still, it was doubted by The Verge that WiFi 6E would be available in this next release.
It also features a wider operating temperature range, support for PCIe 3.0, and DBS support.
Valve's Steam Deck
Apart from Nintendo's Switch which kickstarted yet again the handheld and portable revolution, Valve was among the firsts who reignited the passion for a more powerful and wider game compatibility for this market. The Steam Deck initially received massive praise and regard from reviews, saying that its micro SD cards can match up with SSDs, as well as promising battery life.
One of the iconic features of the Steam Deck is its wide compatibility, from Windows support, Steam Deck Verified games, and various cloud gaming platforms available to access here. Xbox Game Studios are also available in the Steam Deck, allowing more experiences to be obtained via the portable gaming console, all available in the handheld.
Despite the high praises for the Steam Deck, the console and Valve still saw significant complaints against this, including its WiFi capabilities, occasional performance issues, some accounts of Stick Drift, and more. Many already expected a successor to the handheld, with some regarding it as the Steam Deck 2, but apparently, Valve's next plan is a refreshed version, recently given its certification.
