Apple’s iPhone Production is Now at India, $7B Budget aims $40B Revenue, to Reduce China Dependence

The iPhone production will still be in Asia, but in the third-largest country.

The massive move from Apple is now underway, as the iPhone production is centering over India, receiving a $7 billion budget for its operations to assemble the smartphone. This move aims to transform its capital to $40 billion in revenue in the next five years, with India offering hopes to Apple in achieving its plans for the iPhone's future in the industry.

It is known that there were plans to relocate the iPhone production as Apple is reportedly looking to reduce its dependence on China, after its long operations in the country.

A report by BQ Prime revealed that Apple has pushed $7 billion worth of production toward India, centering on the iPhone assembly which it will delegate to the third-largest Asian country. According to the unnamed official, the company crossed this production mark in the last financial year.

Earlier this year, Foxconn started its construction of two new iPhone plants in India as part of the expansion, meaning that the Taiwanese firm is still Cupertino's partner in the device.

According to 9to5 Mac, previous reports also claimed that a quarter of the total iPhone production could move to India by 2025, gradually shifting towards the South Asian country.

Reducing Dependence on China: Apple Targets $40B

This move is part of Apple's plans to reduce the company's dependence on China, and it is known to have a massive reliance on the country regarding its tech. Apple targets a massive $40 billion revenue within the next five years in its move, also looking to expand more of its production in India.

New government incentives also suggest the possibility of iPad production beginning soon in the country.

Apple's Move to India for Assembly, Production

Apple has centered its iPhone production mainly in California before, but then, the company moved its assembly over to China in the succeeding years in hopes of reducing fees, with the device still seeing its design over at Cupertino. However, that changed last year as the iPhone 14 production was confirmed to make its massive move in moving to India.

Earlier this year, the gradual shift to India was seen by the industry, with Apple increasing as much as 25 percent of its production in the South Asian country's plant to bringing the iPhones. Apple has increased its India production to reduce its reliance on China in delivering its technology to diversify production and ease political tensions.

However, it was also seen that Apple and other US firms have asked India to ease down on tech import restrictions, causing a delay in its implementation.

The massive move from Apple aims to increase more of its focus on India to bring various units of the iPhone to the world, with the future seeing more efforts in this change. Foxconn still joins Apple in this, with the Taiwanese company increasing its workforce in its India plants, with Cupertino looking to reduce its dependence on China, targeting a massive revenue in the future.
