iPhone 15 Production in India Officially Starts as Part of Apple's Expansion

Is India the next China when it comes to iPhone production?

Apple is getting ready for the expected launch of the new iPhone 15 lineup a few weeks from now.

As part of its expansion, the Cupertino firm has announced that the production for the upcoming smartphones is already ongoing in India.

With China already positioned as a place where iPhone manufacturing happens, it will only take some time before the company does the same treatment to another country.

According to Apple Insider, some of the older Apple devices have been produced in India. The tech giant sees it as a win-win situation considering that it needs to find another source of parts and avoid depending on China for production.

Actually, Apple just tested to bring the production to Indian sites in 2022. It succeeded in its goal of manufacturing the iPhone 14 within weeks, just the same time it finished in China.

Moreover, the company also aims to ship the upcoming iPhone 15 models from both countries simultaneously. It will be possible, but we never know the challenges that Apple will face along the way.

iPhone 15 Mass Production in India

At this point, Apple has not yet hinted if the shipping of iPhone 15 in India will be the same as China's schedule.

Foxconn, one of Apple's official suppliers, has confirmed that its Sriperumbudur plant is starting to produce iPhone 15. It suggests that it's way ahead of China when it comes to the process.

Clearly, it was evident to see that the Foxconn factories in India lag behind their Chinese counterparts before the iPhone 14 production.

Anonymous sources told The Times of India that it might hit a closer target for its production goal yet it's still not sure if India can solidify the end game.

The challenge in iPhone 15 production in Apple India lies in the availability of imported materials, not to mention the removal of Winstron from the equation.

Speaking of Winstron, The Economic Times reported in May that the supplier officially exited Apple India because it failed to penetrate the company's supply chain.

9to5Mac reported on Wednesday, Aug. 16 that Foxconn is the sole supplier which kicked off the iPhone 15 production. It is expected that Tata and Pegatron will soon join the parade.

iPhone 15 Rumors You Need to See

With everyone expecting iPhone 15 to be a game-changer smartphone, several rumors claimed that the lineup will boast a 48MP camera for high-quality shots.

Apart from this "hot" take, other rumors said that iPhone 15 will have a cheaper chip though it's questionable if it will happen especially if it will be a highly-advanced processor.

Meanwhile, Ming-Chi Kuo, a prominent tech analyst, said that we won't see any solid-state buttons for iPhone 15 Pro. The leaker claimed that Apple will stick to the traditional design for the lineup.
