The earlier leak of the Google Pixel 8 forced the company to unveil the device, and now, another leak has surfaced that brings additional details to the device, including its extended support. Pixel 8 would be a device that could last users for ages, with Google leaked to be promising seven years of OS updates for the device, a perk for those who do not regularly update their smartphone.
Alongside this almost a decade OS update support for the Pixel 8, the smartphone series' price was also unveiled earlier today.
Google Pixel 8 Leaks 7 Years of OS Updates
A renowned leaker has shared new details regarding the upcoming Pixel 8, and according to Kamila Wojciechowska, Google is set to bring as much as seven years of operating system updates to the smartphone. This means that for users can get the regular Android updates until the end of this decade, seeing a longer support timeline for the smartphone.
Current Pixel smartphones only receive up to three years of OS updates from the company, and five years of security upgrades to keep their smartphone safe and usable.
Ars Technica regarded that Apple is only giving as much as five years of OS updates, with the iPhone X no longer seeing the latest iOS 17.
Google Pixel 8 Price Leak
Apart from this OS update support window for the Pixel 8, another leak has revealed the expected price tags of the upcoming Google smartphone ahead of its October 4 event. The base Pixel 8 version would cost $699 already, and the Pixel 8 Pro would be at $999.
This is $100 more expensive than the Pixel 7's series when it was first unveiled by Google last year, with the new details setting expectations for the smartphone.

Towards the end of August, Google's Marketing team accidentally leaked the Pixel 8 series to the world, and it gave everyone an idea of what to expect from the new smartphone, going ahead of Apple's planned September event for the iPhone. The leak showed that the Pixel 8 did not change much of the smartphone's design and look, having a similar one to the Pixel 7.
Earlier, Pixel 8 saw rumors from various sources that claim the different specs and features coming to the smartphone, with one of the most important being the news about its battery size. It was revealed that Pixel 8's batteries would not change significantly, with it featuring a 4,485mAh battery and a 4,950mA for the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro, respectively.
While not much will be changing from the Pixel 8 series, it still ushers in an upgraded chip and performance in this iteration, with the company's Pixel showcase coming soon to formally unveil the device. The smartphone's pricing is also at a sub-$1,000 tier, and it is an affordable series with a long life span with regards to Android OS updates to last users until the end of this decade.
