Google Pixel 8 Price Hike is Coming Says Leaks—New Smartphone Costs Atleast $150 More

A more expensive Pixel 8 is coming.

Google's upcoming flagship smartphone will soon grace the tech world with what it has to offer, but current leaks are claiming that a significant price hike is on its way for the new Pixel 8 series. The internet company accidentally leaked its upcoming smartphone to the world, later confirming that it is launching by October without any further details apart from its smartphone and smartwatch.

The prices that were leaked were for France, but it was assumed by reports that it may see almost the same prices as its US release, setting up expectations for the devices.

Dealabs reported that the Google Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 pro in the European region, particularly in France, would be more expensive by as much as 150 Euros, now featuring a starting price of €799 for the base version. It is a different conversation for the Pixel 8 Pro, as it would be costlier by as much as 200 Euros compared to Google's 2022 release, now starting at €1,099 for the 128 GB.

HotUKDeals also corroborated this pricing as it reported the same rates for the upcoming Pixel 8 series this October for Europe.

Here are the leaked prices of the Pixel 8 series as follows:

  • Google Pixel 8
    • 128 GB: €799
    • 256GB: €859
  • Google Pixel 8 Pro
    • 128GB: €1,099
    • 256GB: €1,159
    • 512GB: €1,299

More Expensive by $150 Compared to Pixel 7

According to 9to5 Google, assuming that the US price would follow the same as its European pricing, Americans may expect that the Pixel 8 series would also be more expensive by $150 to $200.

This means that the Pixel 8 would be available for as much as $649, and the Pixel 8 Pro starting at $1,000 and more.

Google Pixel 8: What to Expect

One of the most significant expectations from the Google flagship smartphone is how it will be the pinnacle of all Android updates, centering on the Android 14's latest offers for Pixel 8 to enjoy. This centers on the upcoming safety feature of Android 14, particularly with the Advanced Memory Protection that will secure the device's memory from bugs and issues.

However, there is a downside to Pixel 8's upcoming release, but this is debatable. As per earlier reports, the Pixel 8 series rumors claim that there would be no significant changes on its battery sizes and charging rates upon release.

Still, it would feature a 4,485mAh battery and a 4,950mAh for the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro respectively.

The Google smartphone is yet to unveil what it has to offer the world, especially as it is a significant rival of its iOS counterpart, the upcoming iPhone 15, as the latest of what the Mountain View giant has to offer. Its price increase is a significant change from its previous pricing with the Pixel 7, and how people would feel about it would vary once the company unveils the device, confirming its specs and price.
