Google ‘Pixel Pass’ is Gone—All-in-One Premium Subscription Service Removed After 2 Years

The Pixel Pass is gone, subscriptions are spread out again.

Subscriptions come left and right in this day and age, and Google is one to give the world different experiences like the iconic Pixel Pass that is exclusive to its self-made smartphones but has recently been removed by the company. It was an all-in-one subscription service that brought Google essentials bundled into one payment plan, with users no longer needing to avail of each.

Google announced via its support page that it has shut down the Pixel Pass subscription service effective August 29, with the service no longer offering new purchases or renewals for those who are already using it. The Pixel Pass is known for its massive bundles under the Google ecosystem which leverages the top features of the company under one bundle, for only $45.

New users and existing subscribers are affected by this, with the company shutting down the service after 22 months since it was released in October 2021.

Google's explanation as to why it is shutting it down is unclear and does not answer the question from its FAQs.

"We offer the best value of our hardware products and give users the flexibility to purchase their favorite services. We continue to evaluate offers based on customer feedback and provide different ways for them to access the best of Google."

Pixel Pass' All-in-One Subscription

According to Ars Technica, Google has been raising the prices of its subscriptions and services in the past months and years, and this may be the reason for Pixel Pass' removal.

Pixel Pass has stayed at the same price, while other services were constantly seeing price hikes from the company. Google One, Google Play Pass, and YouTube Premium will continue billing users at its discounted rate until they cancel it.

Google's Subscription Services

The world is run by subscriptions now, and this remains the ideal premium service for the public to avail of as it continuously gives them the tech and features they need. However, this is also a plus for developers and companies as it means a steady flow of income from those that avail their services, instead of a one-time payment for the good they offer.

Pixel Pass was introduced last October 2021 alongside the Pixel 6, and it gave the world a chance to get all the smartphone essentials under one service, not needing other monthly purchases anymore.

There are other subscription services from Google to enjoy, namely the Google One which bundles various apps from the company, and also offers a VPN for private browsing.

The Google Pixel Pass was a way for smartphone owners to simplify and put their subscriptions into one place, instead of availing of it from the company in different services. With the all-in-one subscription gone, Pixel users are left to look for another service that would give them the likes of YouTube Premium, Google Play Pass, Google One, and more in different bundles.
