Google is back at it again in shading Apple's current technology, especially with the Cupertino giant's iMessage system that sticks with SMS and MMS, instead of what Android has to offer, the RCS. The campaign called "#GetTheMessage" was recently found in another upload by Google for Apple to receive, with the company talking about iPager that talks about their outdated tech.
In the past years, there has been massive pressure on Apple to adopt RCS, with the technology offering a different messaging experience that could possibly enable cross-platform communications.
RCS vs. iMessage: Google Shades Apple in iPager Video
A new post from Android via X brings another massive shade against Apple. Google continues its campaign with its latest mockery of Cupertino's technology of choice, SMS/MMS and iMessage. Here, Google introduced the "iPager," with the company saying that it is an "outdated messaging tech," something that Apple still uses to text Android users.
The video mocks a release event that is meant to resemble what Cupertino has to offer, attacking the iPhone and its technology that sticks with SMS/MMS to contact Android users.
Google cited that Apple's current technology is "causing modern texting nightmares," and says several problems are present, like zero encryption, pixelated videos, broken group chats, and the "infamous Green Bubble."
Google's #GetTheMessage Campaign
Google's #GetTheMessage campaign has attacked Apple several times in the past, and this recent release also sticks the knife further against the Cupertino giant.
The video wants "SMS to exit the chat" and push for RCS support among iPhones, something that is not seen with the latest iPhone 15 series.
RCS: Google Pressures Apple
RCS is a technology that Google has been pushing for in the past years, and the company has been trying to get everyone on board this so-called 'Rich Communication Service' that allows an upgrade from what people use. There are many adopters of the RCS in the tech and telecommunications industry now, with Verizon joining Google despite Apple not being on board.
SMS or Short Message/Messaging Service and MMS (multimedia messaging service) is something that Apple has held on for years, and it was the widely-used technology before RCS. Apple stuck to these services while offering its exclusive iMessage for the world, differentiated by the green bubble for texts and the blue bubble for iMessage, and for years, Google has tried to get Cupertino to adopt it.
As per Google's claims, RCS offers massive support to universal messaging, especially as it is a technology that can bring cross-platform communications should Apple also adopt it. The digital divide between Android and iOS is still apparent because of this, with Google shading Apple's technology, calling it the iPager, as it centers on the past, wanting them to "get the message."
