"Baldur's Gate 3" gives players a game they will enjoy with unparalleled freedom, but some gamers go down a more devious route and try to kill everyone.
If this happens, and a player kills someone important to a later main quest event, the game already has NPC back-ups to replace the character and even back-ups for the back-ups.
'Baldur's Gate 3' Comes With a Level of Freedom, Even Allowing Players to Go on a Rampage
According to PC Gamer, the game brings levels of incomparable freedom, and this means that players are even free to go on a rampage. Players can freely murder any NPC they come across.
Most of the time, killing NPCs comes at a huge risk since players might get rid of someone who could be essential later in a main quest. That would result in players ultimately locking themselves out of progressing.
However, "Baldur's Gate 3" already thought this through and decided to provide back-ups for their NPCs. What's even more interesting is that the game even provides back-ups for the back-ups.
YouTuber Tries to Go on a Bloodthirsty Rampage to Test the Game's Limits
It was also reported that a certain YouTuber, Proxy Gate Tactician, has decided to go on bloodthirsty damage to test what happens in the game. Upon his rampage, interesting interactions were discovered in the game.
According to reports, if a player decides to kill the goblin leaders, Zevlor, the leader of the tiefling refugees, will invite the player to a celebratory party. Should a player choose to kill him before this, the gamer will still get asked by another leader, Asharak, who takes on Zevlor's role.
Certain Back-up Characters Appear, Replacing the Recently Murdered NPC
If the gamer kills Asharak, Cerys, a third leader, will step in. Cery usually does not come out until later in the story. What makes Cerys interesting is that as a back-up for back-ups, players cannot kill her. She is the ultimate failsafe.
It was also reported that since the party is full of tieflings the player meets in the Grove, the gamer can also slaughter the participants ahead of the event. However, that would not stop the festivities. That is because the guests would only be replaced by new characters, including a drunk character inviting a player to dance.
Players Will Meet Some of the Back-up Characters Later On, But It Will be Inconsistent
PC Gamer reported that Proxy Gate Tactician also said that messing the game this way can eventually lead to inconsistent dialogue with some characters. That means Cerys, whom players will meet again, won't recognize the players and think that Zevlor is still alive.
It is impressive that the game has many layers of failsafe, especially with unique dialogue and beautiful animation. And "Baldur's Gate 3" players will likely uncover more unexpected interactions and secrets for the years to come.
