The highly awaited "Elder Scrolls VI" has been the topic of much speculation and anticipation among gaming enthusiasts.
To shatter rumors that it's coming to PS5, a recent document unveiled as part of the FTC v. Microsoft case has provided some clarity on the game's release timeline and platform exclusivity.
'Elder Scrolls VI' Won't Be Released to PS5 Until 2026
According to the document produced by Microsoft for the FTC case, "Elder Scrolls 6" is not expected to grace PS5 screens until at least 2026. This revelation aligns with a statement made by a Microsoft attorney during the court proceedings.
Bethesda, the studio behind "Elder Scrolls VI" appears to have made its allegiance clear. The document hints at the game's availability exclusively on PC and Xbox upon launch. This aligns with Microsoft's strategy for Bethesda's recent titles like Starfield and Redfall.
Phil Spencer's Vision
Xbox head Phil Spencer emphasized the importance of offering gamers the complete experience.
In an interview with GQ, Spencer stated, "In order to be on Xbox, I want us to be able to bring the full complete package of what we have. And that would be true when I think about Elder Scrolls VI."
Back in June, Todd Howard, Bethesda Games Studios director said that "Elder Scrolls 6" could be the last installment in the series.
'Elder Scrolls 6' Rumors
According to another story by TechRadar, the upcoming "Elder Scrolls 6" game will be set in Valenwood, the iconic home of the Bosmer.
Back in 2014, an old Bethesda memo hinted that this place remained unexplored. While the trailer gave a short glimpse of Skyrim, it's hard to tell if the final setting will be on Hammerfell or High Rock.
Another spicy rumor about Elder Scrolls is the 2020 post on Twitter which suggests that it would transcribe the past and map the future."
In this tweet, an unmapped Hammerfell region was seen, but this did not even show up in the teaser video of the game.
So far, the only thing that is sure about "Elder Scrolls 6" is that it's still a work in progress. This was verified by Vandal in an interview with Pete Hines.
While it might take until 2026 for Bethesda to release the sixth installment of the Elder Scroll series, this could mean that the studio needs more time to improve the overall aspects of the game.
For gamers, this is not a good thing given the timeframe of the development, hence a long waiting time for them. However, for developers, this is the exact opposite since they have enough time to correct potential bugs or address imperfections in the game.
The next game which is confirmed to be coming after "The Elder Scrolls 6" is "Fallout. Again, Howard announced this news via IGN when asked about Bethesda's next project.
