A new era of USB-C charging, data transfers, and connections is coming, as Intel introduces the world to Thunderbolt 5, the latest development in the cables for the universal port. One of the most iconic features of Thunderbolt 5 is its speed, promising a base capability that doubles its capabilities, more than the already humongous Thunderbolt 4 which offers 40Gbps.
The new Thunderbolt 5 is meant to enhance more of the gaming and work for different setups, giving peripherals and devices a boost in connections.
Intel Unveils the Thunderbolt 5 with 2x More Power
Intel has unveiled the next generation of USB-C with Thunderbolt 5, and this is the new connectivity standard which the company promises to have as much as double (2x) and triple bandwidth compared to the earlier release. In the company's release, it demonstrated the power of Thunderbolt 5 with a laptop it modded to bring its speeds, alongside monitor setup, showing its latest development.
Thunderbolt 5 already boasts of 2x the power compared to Thunderbolt 4, offering a massive 80Gbps to the world from its 40Gbps from its 2020 USB-C.
However, Intel claimed that there could be more of what Thunderbolt 5 could bring with its bandwidth boost, with it delivering as much as 120Gbps or three times more power than before.

When will the Thunderbolt 5 Arrive?
Intel claimed that the Thunderbolt 5 is meant for various gaming or creator setups that the world needs in a single-cable solution that fits all, from charging to data transfers.
It offers the ability to harness 8K resolutions and up to 540Hz, as well as allow users to utilize three 4K displays while pushing in a 144Hz refresh rate.
Intel claims that Thunderbolt 5 will arrive by 2024.

There is no doubt that USB-C will stay long as the universal charging standard in the world, offering a port that is available for all to use, seeing a wide adoption among Android, and the most recent, Apple's iPhone 15 lineup. The latest version of USB-C came from Intel, which introduced the Thunderbolt 4 in 2020 featuring 40Gbps of transfer speeds.
However, a year later, the company accidentally leaked its next version of the USB-C cable under the Thunderbolt series, one which the company immediately deleted. This is the Thunderbolt 5, and it boasts of a more powerful data transfer rate that is more than what the world's standard has to offer, even reaching up to 80Gbps speeds, surpassing its predecessor.
