Apple is doubling its efforts for the future mixed-reality experience that will arrive, centering on its development of the Vision Pro's App Store which will also feature iPhone and iPad apps to utilize. According to Cupertino, the Vision Pro's App Store would automatically import all iOS apps to its dedicated App Store, especially the compatible ones, with developers having the freedom to enhance or retain it as is.
The company is planning to bring the Vision Pro by early 2024, and its massive preparations are currently in place, with dev kits soon to follow.
Apple Vision Pro App Store to Feature iPhone, iPad Apps
Apple released a developer update earlier today, and it details the future experience coming to the Vision Pro, centering on the iPhone and iPad apps that would be accessible to all. As per the Cupertino-based tech giant, a new App Store will arrive soon, and it will be dedicated to the Vision Pro, featuring apps and games built for the visionOS.
However, that is only one part of what Apple has to offer, as iPhone and iPad apps would be available by default to the Vision Pro App Store.
"And since most iPad and iPhone apps run on visionOS as is, your app experiences can easily extend to Apple Vision Pro from day one - with no additional work required," said Apple.
Apple: Dev Kits Coming for Vision Pro Apps
Additionally, the tech giant claimed that developers may choose to refine the experience on their apps by optimizing it for the Vision Pro, but they could also choose not to. The Verge reported that Apple started taking applications for the Vision Pro developer kits last July, giving ample time for devs to prepare for its upcoming launch next year.
Vision Pro: A New Era for Apple
The June WWDC earlier this year gave the world a first look at a long-rumored device from Apple, the Vision Pro, its first take on a mixed-reality wearable headset that is set to bring the best of both worlds.
This is a premium release from Apple, with the device featuring a $3,500 price tag for the device, set to deliver a dual-chip Apple silicon, ultra-high definition display, and more.
Since Apple is entering a new era with the arrival of its Vision Pro, its other devices are also following the company's development, particularly with the hardware upgrades coming to the iPhone 15. Based on speculations, this upgrade for the iPhone will bring a better-connected experience between the two devices, but it would not necessarily require another tech for the wearable to work.
Over the past months since Apple introduced the Vision Pro to the world, software, tools, and developer kits were made available to help prepare for its upcoming offers. Now, Apple is reinforcing more of the kits coming to developers, alongside its preparation for the Vision Pro's App Store, with users provided with a trove of apps from the iPhone and iPad to access with the AR/VR device.
