SpaceX to Almost Monopolize Space Payload as the Company is On Track to Deliver 80% of Total Shipments

Find out more about SpaceX's payload shipments.

SpaceX has long been known to disrupt the industry based on its core approach alone. With reusable rockets and consistent testing, the company has been able to secure massive contracts, allowing it to carry out the majority of space payloads.

Elon Musk Said the Company is on Track to Deliver 80% of the World's Total Space Payload

According to the story by Benzinga, Elon Musk's space company is on track to be the one to deliver 80% of the world's total space payload. This means that one company, SpaceX, would be delivering eight times as much as the country China's efforts.

Recently, the SpaceX CEO provided a breakdown of what he expected to happen with regards to global payload with the company set to be responsible for sending 80% of all mass to orbit. The remaining 20% is simply split between China, which ships 10%, and the rest of the world, which ships the other 10%.

New Data Revealed How SpaceX Sent 80% of the Total Payload to Space

This came from a tweet, or X, which Elon Musk posted sharing how SpaceX was responsible for 80% of the total weight load to be sent to space. The tweet, or X, shared a post from Eric Berger, which revealed how SpaceX's second quarter shipped almost 10x as much as its competitors.

This actually comes as a completion of Musk's initial expectations when he first said that the company aims to achieve an 80% payload goal by March. During that time, he said that should no anomalies happen, SpaceX was already on track to accomplish this.

Musk Said He Doesn't Focus on the Competition

However, Musk had a recent interview with author Ashlee Vance in June where he revealed that he doesn't focus on the competition but shifts his attention toward the rockers and Starlink, especially when it comes to improving the two.

He simply noted that should competitors succeed, that would still be great. So far, SpaceX's launch numbers have drastically increased since back in 2020, the company was only able to launch 26 rockets.

Other Space Agencies, Companies, and Countries and Their Payload to Space

This number increased in 2021 to 31 and last year, the company had almost doubled the number at 61 launches. So far, Musk said that the company is planning to achieve over 90 launches this year.

As seen on the data shared via a graph on Twitter, or X, SpaceX had achieved sending 214,095 kg of spacecraft upmass in the second quarter alone. This was followed by the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC), which sent 23,069 kg to space.

Roscosmos, the Russian Space Agency, was only able to send 8,100 kgs to space while the China National Space Administration was able to send 8,082 kgs. The rest of the payload was divided into other entities and countries with Arianespace sending 5,963 kg and the United Launch Alliance (ULA) sending 5,000 kgs.
