With the upcoming "Red Dead Redemption" release for the Nintendo Switch, Take-Two Interactive is seeing a massive buzz in the gaming industry as fans still await its PC port. The Take-Two boss has addressed the possibility of a PC port coming soon, but that will depend on the team.
Since 13 years ago, "Red Dead Redemption" has only been available for consoles, and this has torn gamers apart as many are still centering on the PC for gaming.
'Red Dead Redemption' May Be Coming to PC, Take-Two Says
Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick spoke to IGN regarding the upcoming Switch version and tapped other game versions, particularly the PC. While the talk regarding a "Red Dead Redemption" PC version is not totally out of the equation for Take-Two, it is still a vague development for the company.
"It depends on the vision that the creative teams have for a title, and in the absence of having a powerful vision, for something that we would do with a title, we might bring it in its original form, we've done that, and in certain instances we might remaster or remake, so it really depends on the title and how the label feels about it, the platform, and what we think the opportunity is for consumers," said Zelnick.
What is even more vague is that the decision lies on the creative teams.
'Red Dead Redemption' Release for Nintendo Switch
Still, an upcoming "Red Dead Redemption" release and zombie add-on, "Undead Nightmare," for the Nintendo Switch is coming on August 17 for the digital copies and October 13 for its physical version.
It gives a promising lead for gamers regarding the famous original game, with its experience coming to the Switch also centering on its online features and DLCs. With this release, PC gamers are awakened regarding their aspirations to see RDR for computers, but that is yet to come.
Rockstar Games' 'Red Dead Redemption' Franchise
One of the most famous franchises from Rockstar Games is "Red Dead Redemption," coming in second for its renowned "Grand Theft Auto." Back in July, there were massive hints and leaks behind a "remastered version" of the original "Red Dead Redemption," but it was later revealed only to be a re-release.
This "re-release" will take the original game and convert it to fit the latest-gen gaming consoles, most notably for the Nintendo Switch coming this August 17. There is also an upcoming re-release for the PlayStation 4.
Many fans have expected this to be a remake that would also center on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S and X, but that seems yet to be a priority.
With the original game coming as a port for Nintendo Switch and PS4, it is expected to bring back fond memories of the old western but has gamers clamoring for a broader release.
That being said, a PC port is not totally out of the options for Take-Two Interactive, but that will still depend on the development team if it should get a different platform version release.
