Rockstar Games eyed "Grand Theft Auto 4 (GTA $)" and "Red Dead Redemption" remastered releases years ago, an insider of the gaming firm reportedly claims.
But despite the reported plans of Rockstar Games, both "GTA 4" and "Red Dead Redemption" have yet to release a remastered version. So, what happened then?
Rockstar Eyes 'GTA 4,' 'Red Dead Redemption' Remastered Release
As per a news story by Dexerto, the giant gaming firm, Rockstar Games, reportedly planned to release remastered versions of its popular titles, such as "Red Dead Redemption" and "GTA 4."
The insider discloses that the game developer previously had an idea to work on remastering its two iconic games.
The news outlet notes that "GTA IV" first saw the light of day way back in 2008, whereas the first-ever "Red Dead" gaming title debuted in 2010. As such, Rockstar Games released these gaming titles more than a decade ago.
So, a remastered version should have marked their comeback more than ten years after their launch.
These days rumors suggest the highly anticipated remastered release has been sprouting like mushrooms.
A very recent leak even hints that a Grand Theft Auto, which comes with an "Episode from Liberty City" DLC, is rumored to be in the works. While some reports suggest that "Red Dead Redemption" is getting its remaster release.
'GTA 4,' 'Red Dead Redemption' Remastered Version Scrapped?
However, the latest insider information suggests that we are not seeing any "GTA IV" remastered version.
According to a recent report by Games Radar, a Rockstar Games insider claims that Rockstar thought of creating remasters of "GTA IV and Red Dead Redemption, but the gaming firm scrapped them later on.
A Twitter user that goes by the username "TezFunz2" says that the Rockstar "chose not to proceed with the projects in mind."
The leaker suggest in his tweet that the insider revealed that the remasters of both iconic games did not push through production. Instead, they remained plans that did not see the shimmer of the spotlight.
On top of that, the leaker suggests that the production of the "GTA IV '' remastered might have been put on hold after the "GTA Remastered Trilogy" received poor reception.
But Games Radar notes the insider says Rockstar had scrapped the remastered version "years ago."
So, it appears that the poor critical reception of the recent "GTA Trilogy" remastered has nothing to do with the decision of Rockstar Games to scrap the remastered versions of "GTA IV" and the original "Red Dead Redemption."
