The iconic Cadillac Escalade is now electrified, with the company and General Motors unveiling the latest electric vehicle on its lineup, the Cadillac Escalade IQ, along with all its massive glories. When we say massive, we mean it figuratively as the new Escalade is one large car, with the full-size SUV also featuring a significant range and premium features for users.
With massive features and a new look, the Cadillac Escalade IQ moves away from its heritage to be a car of its own, but one that remains is its hefty price.
GM Reveals Cadillac Escalade IQ
GM and Cadillac unveil the new Cadillac Escalade IQ, and it presents the SUV like the world has never seen before, with an all-new body and design that still captures its full-size SUV glory. It is an all-electric vehicle based on the Ultium platform, boasting a massive 450 miles of range on its full battery charge.
"ESCALADE IQ raises the standard just as the original Escalade redefined luxury a quarter-century ago," said John Roth, vice president, Global Cadillac. "This reimagining of an icon marks the next step in Cadillac's all-electric future."
Cadillac's brand is now slowly transitioning to an all-electric development, with other EVs including the upcoming Cadillac LYRIQ and the announced Cadillac CELESTIQ.
Cadillac Escalade IQ Features
Apart from its 450 miles range from the Ultium platform, Cadillac also refined the engineering put behind building the EV, including its better cargo space and design that adds to its driving performance.
It also employs the Super Cruise driver assistant technology, Magnetic Ride Control 4.0, Adaptive Air Ride Suspension, 24-inch wheels with 35-inch rubbers wrapped around it, also featuring a "Four-Wheel Steer" which can essentially "crabwalk."
The Cadillac Escalade IQ is offered at a starting price of $130,000, and further trims are expected to be more expensive, with additional upgrades for cosmetics and performance.
GM's Electric Vehicles
The massive campaign of General Motors in its electric vehicles centers on the Ultium platform, with the company ramping up its efforts to deliver its next-gen EVs for modern demands. Among the many car developments from GM, it is also adopting the Tesla NACS charger which is building up to be North America's standard for EV charging.
Another of GM's famed electric vehicles coming is the updated Chevrolet Bolt EV, now based on the Ultium platform of the company, which will bring a more comprehensive build.
On the other hand, the company also unveiled its take on its renowned Escalade SUV, now going the electrified route for clean energy offers.
