Sony announced the arrival of the first cloud gaming experience for the PlayStation 5 earlier in June, and reports are now claiming that it is under the beta testing phase.
Despite this feature being important for the PS5, the Japanese gaming company has not announced any release dates for this experience. However, being in the beta testing phase signals that the PlayStation 5 cloud gaming experience may arrive soon for gamers to enjoy more titles without downloading.
PlayStation 5 Cloud Gaming Now Under Beta Testing
In June, Sony announced its latest venture in enriching the gaming community under the PS5 niche, centering on the PlayStation 5 cloud gaming service.
Now, a report claims it is under the beta testing phase that moves away from its testing phase, inviting more to try out the experience. PlayStation users under the PS Plus Premium subscription are getting exclusive invites from the company to try out Sony's take on the cloud.
It centers on PlayStation 5 titles only, which means gamers get to experience it in 4K resolution for eligible titles, despite streaming from the cloud.
PS5 Cloud Gaming: What Are the Titles to Expect?
With the massive shift to the cloud, gamers no longer need to download a game to start playing, a process that would take minutes to hours of waiting before they can access it.
The company has yet to mention the games included in the service, but considering it is centered on the PS5, its many AAA-rated titles, and games are likely present.
Moreover, there are no announcements to its release date, but since it is under the beta phase, there might be a possible late 2023 release or by 2024.
Sony's PlayStation Plus and Cloud Gaming
Like other gaming companies in the world, Sony has this so-called PlayStation Plus membership that is required for online play, as well as getting free games on a monthly rotation for users to download.
For a long time, PlayStation Plus has been a reliable service for gamers to enjoy, and it helped gamers connect through this Sony platform.
Earlier this year, there were rumors regarding PlayStation's new cloud gaming ventures where it would center on expanding more PS5 titles for an easier and more accessible service.
The company even revealed 22 job listings to work for its cloud gaming tech, specifically aiming at PlayStation 5 titles for gamers to enjoy.
It was later confirmed by Sony that there is indeed a PS5 cloud gaming service in mid-June, with the company claiming that it is already under testing but did not reveal on which region or community.
Now, reports are centering on it, saying it is in beta testing mode, with Premium subscribers part of the testing phase. But the key takeaway is that it is coming soon.
