Shifting EV Charging Rates

Electrify America expresses its appreciation to its community of electric vehicle (EV) owners who have been instrumental in fostering the growth of sustainable e-mobility. As an integral part of this transformative journey, Energy Portal reported that the company is proactively sharing upcoming changes in its pricing structure.

Effective August 17, 2023, Electrify America is undergoing a significant pricing shift, transitioning from a uniform nationwide pricing model to a more dynamic station-specific rate approach. This shift will be accompanied by the reinstatement of idle fees at most of its nationwide charging stations.

To facilitate transparency and convenience, the Electrify America mobile app will provide precise pricing information for individual chargers. Users are advised to verify charging station rates on-site before initiating their charging sessions. Correspondingly, the Electrify America Terms of Use are undergoing revision to align with these updates.

This is an opportune time for users to explore the benefits of upgrading to the Pass+ membership, which offers a 25% discount on charging expenses. Electrify America's dedicated support team remains available to address any queries that users may have. The company extends its gratitude to the community for contributing to the advancement of sustainable transportation.

Idle Fees

In a bid to enhance the efficient utilization of its charging stations, Electrify America is set to reintroduce idle fees for users who extend their charging sessions beyond the necessary duration once their vehicles are fully charged. Users will incur a charge of $0.40 per minute for any additional time spent connected to the charger, excluding a 10-minute grace period.

Global Village Space reported that this initiative is designed to encourage users to promptly free up the charging station, allowing others to utilize the fast charging service without unnecessary delays. Through the implementation of these idle fees, Electrify America is addressing the challenge of extended charging sessions.

Thereby ensuring an equitable and accessible charging experience for all-electric vehicle owners. These fees serve as a gentle reminder for users to be mindful of fellow EV drivers and make optimal use of the available charging infrastructure.

Serving 40+ States

Presently, Electrek reported that Electrify America commands one of the most extensive DC fast-charger networks across the United States, effectively serving 46 states while persistently extending its reach within North America.

Notably, the company has introduced discounts for fresh electric vehicle (EV) adopters from specific automotive brands and has also expanded these advantageous offerings to include individuals in the gig economy, such as Lyft drivers.

While Electrify America does periodically present charging deals multiple times each year, it's important to acknowledge that EV charging fees have also experienced an upward trend. In the preceding February, the company announced its intent to initiate a price increase, that took effect in March.
