Paizo has recently announced a new "Starfinder" edition. During the Gen Con 2023, the company said it is actively updating the sci-fi tabletop role-playing game (TTRPG) "Starfinder."
Paizo reported that "Starfinder" 2nd Edition (2e) would use the Open RPG Creative (ORC) license, and the first playtest is already available for download.
Paizo Announced Developments in Its 'Starfinder' Game Aside From the Success of 'Pathfinder'
According to Gizmodo, Paizo has had many successful games, like the fantasy tabletop role-playing game (RPG) "Pathfinder." As of press time, it is actively updating the TTRPG "Starfinder."
In a press release, the company said the game is expected to use the three-action economy system. This feature would allow the game for cross-system porting or be compatible with "Pathfinder" 2nd Edition and the Remaster Project.

It was also reported that the "Starfinder" team working on the new edition of the game decided to personally handle the questions regarding the title at Gen Con. They were Thurston Hillman, Dustin Knight, Jenny Jarzabski, and Jessica Catalan.
With the finalization of the ORC License and the fact that the "Starfinder" 1st Edition has been evolving since its 2017 release, Hillman, the game's managing creative director, said they felt that now was "a perfect time to bring the system into the future."
Currently, the playtest is set to be published as a softcover rulebook next year.
'Starfinder' 2nd Edition Can be Found Online, Which Includes Info Like FAQs, Field Tests, Playtest Documents, and More
The rulebook will reportedly focus on certain core elements of gameplay, including additional classes. It will also include a scaling equipment system, and new skills, among others.
The press release further noted that more information regarding the "Starfinder" 2nd Edition can be found on the official starfinderplaytest.com. Information like FAQs, field tests, playtest documents, and more can be seen on the website.
War Gamer also reported that the public playtest for the Starfinder 2e will become open in the Summer of 2024. The game is expected to become completely cross-compatible upon its release with the second edition of "Pathfinder."
No Announcement Yet on the Release Date of the Finished Version of 'Starfinder' 2nd Edition
Paizo has yet to announce the release date for the finished version of the "Starfinder" 2nd Edition.
Fans will have to sit tight and wait for the official announcement of when the game will be released.
So far, the company has announced that these Pathfinder 2e classes will be featured in the playtest: Mystic, Soldier, Envoy, and Solarion.
In February, Paizo announced the release of "Starfinder" Enhanced, a bundle of extra options in the game's current edition. The company noted that it will be released in October.
Last May, the company revealed that it would release the updated "Pathfinder" core rulebooks, with the first due to drop this November, as well as implementing the ORC license and tweaking elements of the game.
