DJI's Osmo Action platform remains a staple for those looking for on-the-ground shooting from one of the most brilliant companies in the industry. The firm's newest entry, the Osmo Action 4, is a testament to the prowess and ingenuity behind DJI's continued camera wizardry, sporting some impeccable specs in tandem with an exceedingly long battery life.
For starters, DJI's Osmo Action 4 leverages a 1/1,3" image sensor combined with a wider/2.8 aperture, allowing it to hit 4K at 120fps and an ultra-wide FOV at 155 degrees. This provides immense detail for photos and videos, especially when situated in lower light scenarios, making it a run-and-gun action camera for even the most brazen night shooters out there.
In addition, the newest Osmo Action also comes equipped with 360-degree HorizonSteady stabilization, HorizonBalancing, and HorizonSteady for horizontal shots, making literally every shot taken with the Osmo Action 4 as clean and crisp as possible, even when not in action scenarios.
Steadying the shot and image quality might both be perfect options for camera enthusiasts, but the Action 4 takes it a step further by adding in even extreme color ranges with a 10-bit D-Log M color mode, which covers over one billion colors for endless post-production potential. The Osmo Action 4's color temperature sensor also reads real-world tones for the best possible combos, no matter the situation - even when underwater.
With most action cams, the sound is typically never the best quality. The Osmo Action 4 stands out in this regard, using several built-in cameras and stereo recording for clear and precise audio quality in videos. The device has a total of three main mics, all of which use reduced wind software that makes action shots sound clean and wind-free.
IRL streamers and content creators alike will appreciate Action 4's broadcasting capabilities that allow it to seamlessly connect to nearby WiFi or your phone hotspot for live broadcasting capabilities. This is becoming somewhat of a new standard on most cameras these days and it's proving to be an awesome inclusion, making IRL streaming and connection with one's audience easier than ever before.
The Osmo Action 4's battery, though, is a push in the right direction. The Action 3 sported a battery life of 160 minutes, while this new iteration can last up to 2.5 hours. It could potentially be a bit better, but the camera also offers extremely fast recharging with an 80% charge being completed in all but 18 minutes thanks to the device's fast-charging capabilities, a feature that was present on the Action 3, as well.
The device comes with a slew of additional features that include Voice Prompt and control, Quick switching between five custom-made modes, an InvisiStick upgrade, and up to 2x digital zoom. The Action 4 also has both a SnapShot and Quick Shot button that allows users to instantly capture recordings and photos without restraint.
DJI's LightCut software will let creators leverage AI editing with wireless freedom. Users can quickly and easily connect to WiFI for previews and auto-editing without the need to transfer footage between the device and the PC or phone.
The Osmo Action 4, available today, launches with a price of $399 for the standard combo, and $499 for the Adventure Combo. Additional products and add-ons can be included for streamlined action video and photo-taking, including a 3.5mm audio adapter, cycling accessory kit, GPS Bluetooth remote controller, and so much more.
Let the Action 4 take you to all-new realms of creativity.
