Since the original iPhone in 2007, Apple has used a dedicated Mute Switch that users could easily slide back and forth to go on Silent Mode without having to go to Settings. However, the next-generation iPhone 15 Pro lineup would allegedly no longer feature this, as it would be replaced with a dedicated "Action Button" for different needs.
This was previously discovered via the iOS 17's beta code, with the iPhone 15 Pro lineup getting a familiar tech from one similar to the Apple Watch.
iPhone 15 Pro to Feature a Dedicated 'Action Button'
Apple got a new leak from Steve Moser, first published on Mac Rumors, detailing the latest discovery from the iOS 17's code that says the iPhone 15 Pro will have a new button called the Action Button. This will be placed where the Mute Switch would be, and instead of a slider, it will be a button that would be pushed and heed the user's command.
If this discovery would make it to the release version of the iPhone 15 Pro, this would be the first time that Apple would replace the mute switch that has been with the iPhones since its original release.
The dedicated Action Button would bring different functions apart from changing the ringer of the iPhone as detailed in iOS 17's beta.
iOS 17 Code: Action Button in Place of Mute Switch
According to the 9to5 Mac, this button would be like the one placed on the Apple Watch, and it is a dedicated button that could be toggled to do various functions for the iPhone.
It could be programmed to nine assignment options including Accessibility, Shortcuts, Silent Mode, Camera, Flashlight, Focus, Magnifier, Translate, and Voice Memos. On the other hand, the Mute setting may arrive at the Control Center alongside other options.
Apple's Development of the iPhone 15
Apple's next-gen flagship smartphone, the iPhone 15, is seeing many leaks that are significantly painting what to expect later this Fall season for its upcoming arrival. One of the most notable claims here is that the iPhone 15 Pro lineup would feature thinner bezels compared to the previous releases, in a bid to improve its display.
Moreover, camera improvements are also expected for all the iPhone 15 that would release later this year, and it would also include the base version and the iPhone 15 Max. All models would have the same 48MP rear camera setup that will significantly improve its photography and videos, upgrading the overall quality of the device.
Alongside this, speculators and analysts are also expecting an improved A17 Bionic chip to power the latest release from Apple that will bring improvements compared to the A16.
Not only would its internals and software are to change, but the iPhone 15 Pro is shaping up to be the most advanced release yet, with its dedicated Action Button to arrive.
