The beloved Nintendo Switch game, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, has been long enjoyed by gamers, but what if new games bring new powers or features for a character?
While Smash's developers are no longer developing new characters or bringing updates to the existing ones, players are now creating mods, and one of the most iconic is taking Link's powers from The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and bringing it over to the fighting game.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Link Mod: ToTK Powers Arrive
Link's significant powers from the new Zelda game are part of the reason why gamers loved Tears of the Kingdom, with many looking to find this in other games like the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. However, the developers have not provided gamers with an update since ToTK came out.
A user named Claude1308 shared his ongoing project in bringing Tears of The Kingdom's Link powers over to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
This centers on Link's Ascend and Fuse powers which are some of the most favorite add-ons to the hero's list of skills and capabilities in the game.
Claude said that he is not yet finished integrating the new powers into Link's character on Smash Bros. Ultimate, and if you are following this mod, check out the creator's YouTube channel for updates.
Bringing ToTK Link to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
As seen on Link's clip from Claude1308's YouTube post, Ascend can help save Link from falling and seeing a platform out, and it also helps him climb back.
On the other hand, Link's Fuse powers in the Smash Bros. Ultimate mod may help him combine his different weapons to improve their reach, capabilities, and attack style.
It is important to note that these mods are not yet the final version and are still subject to development from the modder.
Nintendo's Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
Nintendo first introduced the world to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate in its iconic E3 showcase back in 2018, and since then it has captured the hearts of gamers, bringing the iconic platform fighting game back. It is also one of the most ambitious games of Nintendo, promising the culmination of the Japanese gaming company's developments from its different franchises.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is known for its iconic DLCs and add-on characters that spice up the gameplay, but its expansive original roster is enough for those wanting to experience the game. That being said, Nintendo went big on its collaborations, going as far as to bring Tekken's Kazuya Mishima to the Nintendo game.
Now, it is five years since Smash Bros. Ultimate came out, and updates or patches are becoming scarce from developers, with players left of their volition with the game. Knowing that Link's character would no longer see an update from the latest ToTK, this modder took the matter into his hands and brought Link's iconic powers, Ascend and Fuse, to the game.
