Valve is adding the ability for users to spot Steam Deck verifications on the desktop version of Steam. This comes as part of the latest Steam Beta Client update for desktop users.
Steam Deck Verified Status to Show in the Users' Library Despite Being on Desktop
According to the story by Gaming on Linux, the new update gives users a new option to allow others to see the Steam Deck Verified status. The company's changelog for desktop highlights how they added the new setting.
Per the desktop notes, it was noted that the setting would allow users to show Steam Deck compatibility information along with the library despite not being on their Steam Deck. To check out this feature, users would first need to go to their Settings and click on Library.
How Users Can See the Feature on the Desktop Version of Steam
After clicking on Library at the bottom, users would be able to hover over different items in their Steam Library to see if it has a rating icon for being Steam Deck Verified. This comes with the cover art of the image for the Deep Rock Galactic.
The article by Gaming on Linux noted that, hopefully, Valve would also add the option in order to show them without users needing to roll over the entire library. The article notes that this change could be more useful and provide more use cases for users.
The Feature Comes After a Beta Update, Which Introduces Additional Changes to Steam
Aside from the feature, toggling the new setting would then provide users with a view into the main library page for every individual game that they go over. This reveals the Steam Deck Playable ratings highlighted.
To see this information, users need to expand the detail view through the information icon located on the right side of the page. Aside from the Steam community changelog, the Steam Deck also revealed a Beta update that came with some new changes.
The Update Would Fix Different Errors Within the Library and Different Options
The update reportedly came with fixes, like the case where the wrong FPS limit could've been applied on the startup. It also fixed the issue wherein controller input threads could operate normally instead of at high scheduling priority.
Another fix would be the login error screen styling, along with making the retry button more accessible through the gamepad. New chances in the library give users the ability to sort the listing by date, which was added to the library to shelves and game grids.
Other Changes Include Timestamp Settings on the Steam Console Window
Other changes in the update include adding a setting to show timestamps on the Steam console window. The changes would result in the last several seconds of the output staying in the console window despite exceeding the buffer length.
The update also fixes the command echoes, which sometimes show within the same line as the past output. The last change made would be to the clear_console command, which didn't do anything.
