When it comes to film, there are few things as epic and dramatic as a climactic sword fight. If the film is well-made, the duel feels like the culmination of something: revenge, rage, justice - any good sword fight has something building to it. It can't just be a bunch of quick cuts and flashy effects; it has to mean something.
There are more than a few examples of this. For years, filmmakers have been perfecting the sword fight, and moviegoers are regularly treated to combat that's completely out-of-this-world. It doesn't matter if it's a lightsaber or a katana, there have been some truly incredible fights put to film over the years...so, what happens when they're played back-to-back in rapid succession?
You get one of the coolest supercuts ever made:
Courtesy of ClaraDarko, the aptly-titled Sword Fight Movie Montage isn't just a detailed recounting of some of the film industry's best fights; it's an extremely well-edited piece in its own right, too. There are some fantastic cuts here, and the motion matching between shots is practically unheard of on the Internet. Yes, it's a fantastic collection of some of the greatest sword fights ever, but it wouldn't be have as good without the artistry behind it.
It also helps that the montage has an impressive number of films to fill it out: everything from Star Wars to Kill Bill to Army of Darkness is included, and using Santa Esmeralda's "Dont Let Me Be Misunderstood" is absolute perfection.
The best part is that the Sword Fight Movie Montage is far from the only video of its kind on Darko's channel. There are montages for seemingly every movie trope out there, and all of them are just as excellent as the next:
It takes a lot of time and dedication to put something like these together, but if it's done right, it's absolutely fantastic. ClaraDarko's supercuts are just proof of that.
