Force of Nature Steam Rocket Bike Achieved 180 MPH Record Speed, Time on 1/8 Mile

A pocket rocket that blows off steam.

A development from Graham and Diane Sykes called "Project Force of Nature" has delivered its first working prototype of a steam rocket bike which topped record speeds in a recent feat in the United Kingdom. The steam-powered bike was able to achieve a top speed record of 180 miles per hour, and the bike was able to clear off 1/8 mile in under four seconds.

This presents a new development in the world of transportation, particularly with alternative energy sources for vehicles, but this particular make is resembling a rocket engine with its propulsion from steam.

The UK-based couple from the Force of Nature team has rolled out its one-of-a-kind bike at the Elvington Speed Week and was able to set records for the vehicle of its kind. This was the Steam Rocket Bike which they developed, and it achieved 180 miles per hour, or as much as 290 kmh top speeds on a straight line drag showcase.

First off, the bike was built for a drag-racing style event, and its goal is to generate as much energy from the steam and propel it forward at exhilarating speeds. Right off the starting line, the vehicle was able to achieve a 163.2 mph exit speed rate.

This bike was developed ten years in the making by the Sykes couple, using their engineering expertise to craft a unique motor vehicle that uses steam for its propulsion, resembling that of a rocket engine.

In its recent test, its speed was ratified by the UK & ITA governing body.

Setting a New Record for a Different Type of Motorbike

Apart from its record speeds from the recent drag-style tests, the bike also cleared the 1/8 mile in a whopping 3.878 seconds, which is an impressive feat for the steam-powered bike.

The bike superheats pure water to generate steam that exits through its de Laval nozzle, also using hydrogenated vegetable oil to produce heat of up to 392° Fahrenheit (200°C) and 30 bar of pressure.

Alternative Sources and Car Developments

While the usual and traditional cars or motorcycles center on their transportation use where users can get from point A to point B with ease are the standard now, many developments change the way we are mobilized. One of the most interesting and promising developments now are VTOLs and eVTOLs which present a hybrid transportation feature via land or air.

There was also a flying car development presented before, and it is from a company called Alef which presents a design that is similar to what is imagined whenever talking about hovercars. This company recently received its airworthiness certification from the FAA, and this only means that it is close to reality, seeing it in public and offering its availability soon.

Automobile development is massive since the early cars and bikes were created, and one of their most achieved feats is to see who is the fastest and best offers the most thrilling experience. The latest test on the track by team Force of Nature only showed the wonders a steam-powered bike can bring, delivering a propulsion that sets it apart from the usual motorbikes that we know.
