Apple Is Changing the iPhone 15's Charging Port to USB-C

9to5Mac reported that Apple is changing how people connect their smartphones to chargers or computers, which would be via USB-C charging, soon with the iPhone 15 lineup.

It is already July and nearing the expected dates of the new iPhone lineup, with leaks and rumors centering on a USB-C-equipped iPhone coming. The Cupertino company's changes have been seen since the early iPhones, particularly from the iPhone 4s to the iPhone 5.

From its 30-pin chargers and data connectors, Apple brought the Lightning ports that allow either side to charge or access data from the device. Now, it is adhering to transfer and charging standards set by the global community - that is, the USB-C.

Say Goodbye to the Lightning Connectors and Chargers

That being said, the iPhone 15 was reported to no longer carry the Lightning port and connectors available in the market, with the iPhone 14 being the last of this exclusive charger from Apple.

The standard for charging is important in today's age, especially as it aims to unify more of the connectors that a person owns and have access to different devices in one cord.

Apple's USB-C Change is Not a Big Deal?

Chances are that most of the global population already have their hands with USB-C cords, and it does not matter if it is USB-A to USB-C or USB-C to USB-C, as it would all work for those with similar connectors.

Earlier leaks of the new iPhone 15 lineup center on Apple adhering to the global standard for charging, with its changes coming soon. Since the EU law was passed, there have been speculations about the Apple lineup about its future adoption of the USB-C, with earlier leaks claiming it would happen with the iPhone 14 series.

However, it was not the case. Still, the speculations applied to the next smartphone in the lineup, which is the iPhone 15, and renowned insiders also reiterated that it is coming soon this 2023.

While the USB-C change would be monumental for Apple's iPhone 15, it is not necessarily a big deal as there are massive changes that you already own Type-C cables. Moreover, the MagSafe wireless charging for the iPhone would still be available for this year's release amidst iPhone 15's transition to USB-C port charging.
