[UPDATE] Titanic Sub Investigators Puzzled, Submersible Not Disintegrated After Implosion

Even though the Titanic submersible imploded, experts are shocked by the fact it was not crushed into tiny pieces in the first place.

The tragic implosion of the Titanic submersible has left experts scratching their heads after finding out that the vessel wasn't into tiny pieces even after a "catastrophic implosion."

The accident reportedly claimed the lives of five people aboard the submarine, including Pakistani tycoon Shahzada Dawood, his son Suleman, British entrepreneur Hamish Harding, OceanGate CEO Stockton Rush, and French driver Paul-Henri Nargeolet.

Experts Are Shocked Why Titan Submersible is Still in Good Shape

The exhibit opened at the Melville Gallery, part of the South Street Seaport Museum, on the 100th anniversary of Titanic's launch on her maiden - and only - voyage. The exhibition features mayday communications from the ship, personal artifacts from survivors, production items from Titanic films and interactive multimedia tours through the ship. Following the search and rescue operation conducted by the US coastguards last week, the experts immediately launched an investigation into the possible condition of the small vessel.

On its way towards the familiar spot where the Titanic wreckage lies, a five-man crew traveled underwater to explore the depths of the Atlantic Ocean on Sunday, June 18.

Unfortunately, just less than a couple of hours after it departed, the sub mysteriously disappeared. The backup team tried to contact and track down the crew, but there was no response whatsoever.

A few days later after the tragedy, the US Coast Guard decided to start obtaining the debris, which could likely come from the vessel.

However, as LadBible reports, the experts have no clue why the Titan sub was not in tiny pieces even though the bodies of the victims were "vaporized."

As per Underwater Investigators CEO Tom Maddox, the whole team was shocked after discovering the current condition of the submersible.

"Many of us suspected that, in the case of this catastrophic failure, this implosion, that a lot of the parts would be disintegrated, particularly the non-titanium parts, which, of course, would make the investigation a lot harder to do," he told Daily Mail.

Presumed Human Remains on the Titan Sub

Continuing the investigation for the submerged vessel, the investigators reportedly retrieved what was believed to be the remains of the victims.

The US Coast Guard says that the presumed remains will be analyzed by medical professionals. The operation will continue until the rescuers recover the bodies of the crew members, which imploded into the ocean depth.

According to Jason Neubauer, the captain of the Coast Guard, the probe might open possibilities regarding the criminal or civil sanctions that might be imposed on the responsible persons.

Still, a "substantial amount of work" will be conducted to rule out the potential factors that led to the implosion of the submersible.

Neubauer said that the ongoing investigation will be the key to avoid a similar tragedy from happening in the future.

Possible Reason Why Titan Sub Imploded

As per The Independent, some experts said that the Titan's hull and porthole might have had safety flaws before the operation kicked off.

If proven true, the Titan submersible could have failed a quality control check. This statement was supported in a lawsuit claiming that it was built with an "experimental and untested design."
