Developer Toys For Bob Assures 'Crash Bandicoot' Fans that Activision Will Still Invest in the Franchise

According to the story by IGN, "Crash Team Rumble" has just launched and along with it comes fears of fans that this could be the last title for the game franchise. However, its developer, Toys For Bob, assures gamers that this won't be the end.

Specifically, the developer notes that Activision "hasn't given up on the franchise." This was reportedly said during a VGC interview with creative director Dan Niel, who said that although Toys For Bob was working heavily on the "Call of Duty" series, they still didn't give up the "Crash Bandicoot" franchise.

Toys For Bob Worked on the 'Call of Duty' Series for Two Years

To be specific, Toys For Bob have reportedly been working on the "Call of Duty" series for the past two years. However, gamers were assured that Activision didn't give up on the "Crash Bandicoot" franchise and is supportive on the studio working on it.

To take things further, it was also noted that Activision plans to continue to invest in new titles that star Crash. Neil noted that there was a passion and a core ethos of games and that they have Activision's support should they want to invest in new titles for the franchise.

It was also pointed out that the new title, "Crash Team Rumble" was built by Toys For Bob with the knowledge and experience it received working with "Call of Duty" developers. This was reportedly despite the major differences in the franchise.

The creative director also talked about the studio's flexibility when it came to working with multiple game genres. Neil noted how they were able to get things that they learned working with the "Call of Duty" team to the "Crash Team Rumble" title.

'Crash Team Rumble' Gives Players a New Experience

This comes as a response to certain fears of fans regarding "Crash Team Rumble's" future due to how it included microtransactions and seasonal updates. This comes at a time when live service games start to shut down left and right.

Neil also specifically assured fans by addressing this issue, saying that "Toys For Bob" will also be looking for ways to preserve the game "somewhere down the line." Although it's hard to interpret what this means, this could refer to preserving the game's essence, which players can feel during the earlier "Crash Bandicoot" titles.

The new "Crash Team Rumble" takes a very different approach compared to "Crash Bandicoot" as it's a 4v4 team-based competition. The game is reportedly available on the PS5 and Xbox Series X.
