Samsung Self-Repair Comes to UK: Galaxy S20, S21, and S22 Owners Now Get the Option

Samsung launches its self-repair program in the UK.

Repairing one's phone can be both inconvenient and very expensive, depending on the prices of local repair shops. Sometimes, even getting a repair from the brand itself can be difficult, especially if owners don't have a warranty.

Samsung Self-Repair Kits for UK Customers

This is where self-repairs start to gain popularity as it involves kits, complete with instructions, that help gadget owners perform repairs on their own devices themselves. As major companies have already started to launch self-repair kits, Samsung is expanding the availability of its self-repair kits in the UK, according to the story by Engadget.

As detailed, Samsung has reportedly just announced a self-repair program that would finally be available in the UK and other European countries. This comes after it was previously launched in the US in 2022.

It was noted that Samsung owners would be able to access tools, parts, and instructions needed to fix supported devices. So far, the supported devices were still limited to the Samsung Galaxy S20, S21, and S22 smartphones.

The Program was Designed to Optimize Performance of Users' Devices

Regarding laptops, it was noted that the models included include the Galaxy Book Pro regular as well as the Galaxy Book Pro 360 laptops. Samsung's Head of Mobile experience and President TM Roh gave a statement regarding the situation.

As per Roh, Samsung was working on extending the overall lifecycle of their devices. This was in order to encourage users to experience optimized performance with their own Galaxy devices "for as long as possible."

It was also noted that the company was committed to scaling its self-repair program worldwide, which means it could also be planning on expanding to other locations and offering its self-repair solutions to other places as well.

Other Places Already Offer the Samsung Self-Repair Program

Aside from the UK, Samsung also makes the program available in places like Belgium, France, Italy, Poland, the Netherlands, Spain, and even Sweden. To do this, the company partnered with iFixit in the US.

When it comes to Europe, Samsung will be partnering with ASWO and 2Service for the handling of sales and distribution of its repair kits within the location. It was noted that so far, the program is already available in certain places in Europe and will be expanding to other regions, including the UK, before July.

The report by Engadget details that owners of Samsung Galaxy S20, S21, and S22 series devices would be able to replace critical parts of their devices. These include the phone screen, back glass, and even the device's charging ports.
