"Chrono Trigger" is one of Square Enix's most popular classic games ever released, and although the developer is focusing more on the release of a new "Final Fantasy" game series, a leaker says gamers may also get to see a "Chrono Trigger" remake.
Rumored 'Chrono Trigger' Remake in Development for Nintendo Switch
According to Game Rant, this information came from a frequent Nintendo leaker, who now makes the "bold claim" that a "Chrono Trigger" remake is in development specifically for the Nintendo Switch.
The report described the game as one of the "best video games ever made," so the remake would surely generate public interest. "Chrono Trigger" was a game released in 1995 for the Nintendo DS and later ported to other platforms.
The platforms that can reportedly run "Chrono Trigger" today also include the PlayStation 1, PC, and even mobile devices.
Decision to Make a Remake Comes as Square Enix Was Allegedly Hesitant About Bringing the Game to Major Platforms
The report by Game Rant also specifies how Square Enix was hesitant about bringing the original game to major platforms such as the Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X, and the PS5 just yet.
But if the rumors about a "Chrono Trigger" remake being in development are true, then it probably has something to do with it. Nintendo leaker Zippo reportedly claimed that Square Enix is working on a "full remake" of "Chrono Trigger," which will be an HD-2D remake.
Square Enix first introduced the HD-2D art style in "Octopath Traveler," released in 2018. Gamers were amazed by the beautiful lighting dynamics that have now become an art style.
However, the Game Rant has yet to acknowledge that the rumors are true, so fans should take this information with a massive grain of salt.

Should Rumors be True, Fans Would Get an HD-2D Style Remake
According to rumors, the "Chrono Trigger" remake could be very much like "Dragon Quest 3," which takes the approach of an HD-2D style. However, Zippo claimed that the remake is only coming to the Nintendo Switch and is "not sure" about other platforms.
In the same blog post, Zippo further noted that a Nintendo Direct would "likely be airing in about 48 hours," which would surprise many since there was no announcement from Nintendo regarding any plans to host a Nintendo Direct this week.
Other insiders have reportedly claimed that a Nintendo Direct event will not happen until September. However, others still think a Nintendo Direct event could occur later this month or next.
It should be noted that even though Zippo implied that a Nintendo Direct is happening soon, it still does not mean that the rumored "Chrono Trigger remake" will be featured.
For those who want to try the game, one of the easiest ways to get the "Chrono Trigger" upgraded version is to go to Google Play Store.
