Google's Gmail app is pre-installed in almost all Android and iOS smartphones, but some users only think that it's just all about emails.
With machine learning, the search engine company now rolls out "Top results" category which improve search results within the app. Filtering the results is now made easier than before.
Gmail AI-Powered Search Result Update
When Google announced in March that AI chat was coming to Gmail and Google Docs, the first thing to enter our minds was that the company will now focus on machine learning-integrated features on its apps.
By the time I/O 2023 took place last month, Google teased the arrival of "Help me write" feature which is a shortcut way to draft an email with AI. Now, we're seeing another AI-focused feature.
The new section called "Top ResultS" is the latest addition in the update, according to Android Police. With this, scanning through your emails can provide relevant results when you begin searching much faster than before.
You can start by typing a particular search keyword on the Gmail search bar from your Android or iOS device, Google says. It is expected that the feature will soon launch to all users with a Google account regardless if you have paid subscription to other Google apps or not. The roll out of this functionality will last for up to weeks.
Perusing each of your email only to specifically look for a single keyword can be tiresome. Given that many emails share the same set of keywords, this AI-powered feature saves you a lot of time in scrolling and filtering all your emails based on date of creation, attachment types, and so on.
Is Top Results Coming to Gmail Desktop?
At this point, there's no telling that the web version of the AI search results feature will make its way to the desktop users, according to Phone Arena. However, it might be in Google's book to add it in the future to cater to the needs of more users, especially those who have a hard time locating emails.

Gmail Borrows Twitter's Top-Selling Paid Feature
Twitter has been flooded with blue check marks since Elon Musk announced that it will be a paid subscription service to verify the legibility of a user. It's also a great feature to avoid malicious campaigns on the platform.
Surprisingly, Google jumped the bandwagon and launched its own take for Gmail's blue checkmark. Tech Times reported in early May that this is built upon BIMI (Brand Indicators for Message Identification) feature.
It's kind of deceiving to see the blue check mark in a different setting given that people get used to seeing it on Twitter alone. Regardless, it's still a useful tool to help users avoid scams that are rampant online.
