Razer is no stranger to some of the most cutting-edge technologies when it comes to gaming. Now, the company is releasing a leverless Kitsune controller reportedly designed for the PlayStation 5 and PC.
Razer Kitsune Launches as a Low-Profile Optical Switch Leverless Action Stick
According to Dexerto, the company has officially announced the Kitsune, a leverless arcade stick. The stick is unique because it features cutting-edge components like low-profile optical switches that most gamers know from Razer.
So far, no official release date or price has been revealed for the Razer Kitsune. Only details that it can work on the PS5 and PC were reported. So far, punters have options for the Snack Box Micro from Junk Food Arcades and the popular Hitbox, which offers controllers with a leverless option.
Controllers With a Leverless Option Have Started to Gain Mainstream Attention
The release of the controllers with a leverless option is part of the shift to remove the Razer from arcade sticks slowly. The leverless controller replaces the joystick with four buttons, making it easier for some players to control their characters accurately.
According to Razer, the decision to create a leverless control was for "precision and performance." It can be recalled that leverless evangelist Kawano dominated Evo's Street Fighter V tournament last year.
How the Leverless Experience Could Provide an Advantage to Its Users
In a statement, Razer's project manager Ali Homayounfar discussed the advantages of the leverless action stick. Homayounfar noted that the Kitsune would eliminate the mishaps players could experience when using a joystick.
It would reportedly bring a "new era" of what was described as "precise, unambiguous gameplay. " "This novel approach to button configuration promises to be the competitive edge pro fighting game players have been seeking," Homayounfar noted.
Razer Kitsune Is the First Officially-Licensed Legal Leverless Controller on the Market
The device was reportedly designed to be tournament legal and still complied with SOCD rules for Capcom Cup. That makes the Kitsune the first officially-licensed legal leverless controller on the market.
That was also because the Victrix Pro FS12, another leverless controller, still needed a dedicated firmware update to comply with the rules and be usable for players. The shorter actuation and optical technology of Kitsune were reportedly going to make responsiveness much more precise compared to other traditional switches.
The Action Stick Is Designed to Disrupt the Controller Market
According to Dexerto, Razer's shorter actuation and optical technology would give the controller a near-unmatched level of responsiveness compared to other leverless controllers with traditional switches. It was also reported that the Razer Kitsune would likely disrupt the fighting game controller market.
Fans will have to wait for upcoming announcements to know the controllers' release date and price, which are expected to be revealed soon. Razer Kitsune will reportedly be sporting a slim design adorned with RGB and a detachable USB-C cable.
