Nreal finally rebranded as Xreal. The Chinese AR glasses maker confirmed this effort on Thursday, May 25.
The wearable gadget developer explained that the rebranding is part of its efforts to expand in Europe.
Xreal's co-founder, Peng Jin, said that the ongoing AR and VR competition is helping the market expand.
"When you have companies like Sony or even Apple start investing in the space it brings more attention to this general direction, it will draw more talent," said Jin. Now, Xreal (previously Nreal), now wants to do its part in a different way.
Nreal Rebrands as Xreal!
According to CNBC's latest report, the Chinese augmented reality company hopes that its new name, Xreal, will encapsulate its expansion in the European markets.

In a recent interview, Jin explained that the letter "X" in the company's name reflects the company's goal, which is "expanding beyond what we thought was possible."
Aside from this, the new Xreal brand also highlights new AR applications. The Chinese AR company said that it aims to launch its products in Europe around the third quarter of 2023.
Unlike other tech firms with AR/VR products, Xreal focuses on an interesting space. This is because its augmented reality gadgets can be used with consoles, such as PlayStation.
Xreal enables gamers to play their favorite titles on a huge virtual screen instead of a smart TV.
However, there's a chance that competitors will also enter the space Xreal is currently in.
"I'm not saying these companies will not one day decide to build their own AR glasses and decide to block us. I m not saying that's not going to happen. But there's so much more to gain than just blocking us," said Jin.
Xreal's Products
As of press time, Xreal offers numerous AR products across the U.S., China, the U.K., Japan, and South Korea.
These include the Nreal Light and Nreal Air. Both of these AR devices rely on Xreal's advanced operating system called Nebula.
On May 25, Xreal introduced a new product called Xreal Beam; an iPod-shaped decide that connects to smartphones, PCs, and gaming consoles; wirelessly or wired.
