As of writing, many people are still afraid of the negative effects of artificial intelligence.

One of their major concerns is the possible job losses that generative AI tools can lead to, especially in the creative sector.

Despite these concerns, numerous tech companies, such as Adobe, still want to take advantage of artificial intelligence.

Now, Adobe wants to improve Photoshop using the new AI-powered Generative Fill feature.

Adobe said Firefly is "a family of creative generative AI models coming to Adobe products."

It was released as a web-only beta back in March. But, Adobe said that Firefly will soon expand to more users.

When it comes to the new Generative Fill, The Verge reported that this new AI-powered Photoshop feature would arrive in the second half of 2023 or before this year ends.

Of course, the main question is how the new Generative Fill feature actually works. If you're an Adobe Photoshop user, then here are the details you need to know.

How Generative Fill Works

The upcoming Photoshop Generative Fill feature will allow editors to expand their images.

For example, if you have a portrait image of a dog, you can expand it into a landscape image.

The AI feature will work by filling the gaps in the image so that it can be a landscape photo.

Specifically, the Generative Fill will rely on the text prompts provided by users; this is quite similar to how Dall-E Midjourney AI works.

With the new Generative Fill feature, Photoshop users can remove unwanted objects in their photos as well.

Adobe explained that the Generative Fill would send some parts of the image to Adobe Firefly to get the needed output.

But, the software giant confirmed that it is enhancing the Generative Fill to send entire images to Firefly.

Aside from working on new AI tools, Adobe is also conducting other efforts to improve its business.

Previously, a new Adobe office building was opened in its hometown.
