The famous arcade fighting game's sequel, "Tekken 8," has confirmed another beloved character that is making a return for gamers and this time, he is back better than ever after time spent abroad. This is the famous kicking master, Hwoarang, who is confirmed for his arrival in the upcoming game, best known for a combination of kicks and some punches, making him one of the crowd favorites.
However, in the past times, Hwoarang's character received massive backlash as Bandai Namco nerfed the fighter on different occasions, and since then, was considered broken in the gaming world.
'Tekken 8' Brings Back Hwoarang as a Playable Character
In a surprise reveal by Tekken's social media accounts, a new character and his gameplay trailer were unveiled to the world, with the Taekwondo master, Hwoarang, joining the fiasco. In this latest revelation for the character, it seems like the events of Tekken 7 were forgotten, as Hwoarang is no longer wearing an eyepatch from a previous injury during his encounter with Jin Kazama in the Middle East.
The gameplay trailer shows Hwoarang still riding his motorcycle and saying his smug lines which highlighted his personality best.
It also shows Hwoarang with a buffer body build, as opposed to his usual lean body type, best known for his quick kicks and flexibility. Check out the full gameplay trailer below.
What to Expect of the Beloved Fighter?
The trailer shows how much Hwoarang has been since Tekken 7, and it gave gamers an insight as to how the character would fare against others in the game. The gameplay shows much of Hwoarang's combinations, from kicking an enemy airborne to kicking them to walls and performing wall breaks that deal additional damage, as well as his new Rage Art finish.
Players only hope that the nerfs and broken code on Hwoarang's character in Tekken 7 would be fixed in the upcoming game.
'Tekken 8' Development
Bandai Namco decided to first reveal the details of a new sequel game last EVO 2022, and it confirmed via a teaser that this will be "Tekken 8," and will now focus on Kazuya Mishima's beef. It is known that Kazuya is stepping up yet again after killing Heihachi, his father, and confronting the newly reformed Jin Kazama, in what is shaping up to be their final battle.
One of the most iconic changes in Tekken 8 is that it was developed under Unreal Engine 5 and delivers a significant upgrade to its graphics, textures, and more. It also means that the game would only be released to current-gen platforms like the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S&X, alongside the PC platform.
With Kazuya's moveset revealed before, alongside other characters like Marshall Law, Asuka, Leroy Smith, and more, there is a lot to expect in the upcoming game, set to release by 2024. Tekken is revealing more characters to join the roster, and these new gameplay trailers are introducing what to expect from the fighters, including the Taekwondo master, Hwoarang.
