iPhone 15 Base and Plus Models to Get Upgraded Camera, 48 MP like the Pro Versions

Apple is looking to give the base models a chance at better photography.

Apple is reportedly looking to improve the rear cameras for the upcoming iPhone 15 models, mostly focusing on the base and iPhone 15 Plus devices that would come soon later this year. It will center on the 48-megapixel rear cameras that are mostly offered for the iPhone's Pro versions, soon coming to base models to give it better performance and capabilities as well.

This new speculation came from an analyst who previously correctly claimed the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max variant's 48 MP rear camera allowed it to take better quality images and shoot with ProRAW.

iPhone 15 Base Models are Getting the Pro Treatment with Cameras

MacRumors reported a newly-obtained document from Jeff Pu, a Hong Kong-based analyst from investment firm, Haitong International Securities, about a new upgrade for the iPhone 15. This would center on the base models of the smartphone lineup, with the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus soon getting a Pro "treatment" for its rear cameras.

The iPhone 15 would be getting the significant 48-megapixel rear cameras that will feature three-stacked camera sensors packed in the lens. This new camera would help the user capture more light in their photos and bring better shots for users, being the first time that base models from the iPhone would get the best camera offered to its lineup.

Apple's New Rear Cameras for the iPhone 15 Lineup

The new rear cameras for the iPhone's base models are shaping up to be promising, but for one reason which is its reported delay, as per Pu (via 9to5 Mac).

The analyst still expects the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus to launch alongside the iPhone 15 Pro models this coming Fall season, the usual dates for Apple's smartphone releases.

Apple's iPhone 15 and its Expectations

Many want the iPhone 15 to have Apple's famed Dynamic Island, a.k.a. the future of the iPhone notch for the front-facing camera and the Face ID module on the device. However, the leaks and speculations available now are still centering on the iPhone 15 base models to have no Dynamic Island, as it is still reserved for the Pro versions.

Moreover, the new colors for the entire iPhone 15 lineup are looking to debut soon as per leaks, with a breath of fresh colors to choose from and express their preferred look of the smartphone. For the iPhone 15 base models, there would be a new shade of Blue and Pink coming for the variants, and for the iPhone 15 Pro, its flagship color would be a dark red finish.

Apple is looking to go big with the iPhone 15 and this is because this is a fresh start for them, as the previous design scheme which lasted for three years finally ended with the iPhone 14 series. Not only that, this new camera leak centers on new rear lenses for the base models, and this is a first for Apple, should it bring 48-megapixel rear cameras to the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus.
