This new security enhancement is quite similar to the popular Twitter Blue checkmark. Google announced the new Gmail blue checkmark on Wednesday, May 3.

The search engine giant said that the latest Gmail blue checkmark is built upon the Brand Indicators for Message Identification (BIMI) feature.

It requires senders to use strong authentication and verify their brand logo so that they can display these icons as an avatar in emails.

Now, the new Gmail blue checkmark will help users easily identify senders that adopted Google's BIMI technology.

"This will help users identify messages from legitimate senders versus impersonators," said the tech giant firm.

The new Gmail blue checkmark will impact admins as well as end users.

Google explained that this new feature matters to all Gmail users since it can help consumers and email security systems identify (even stop) malicious campaigns.

Google further stated that the new Gmail blue checkmark would enable senders to leverage their brand trust.

"This increases confidence in email sources and gives readers an immersive experience, creating a better email ecosystem for everyone," added Google.

Google rolled out the new Gmail blue checkmark on May 3. But, the company said that the feature's complete visibility would take one to three days.

What Does Gmail Blue Checkmark Look Like?

Based on the image provided by The Verge, the new Gmail blue checkmark is a blue circular icon that has a white check mark within it.

This means that it is quite similar to the official Twitter blue checkmark. It will appear beside the name of the sender.

Once you hover your cursor over the Gmail blue checkmark, a message confirming that the sender is a verified user will appear.

"This sender of this email has verified that they own google.com and the logo in the profile image."
