Multiple reports tell us that Russia has recently accused Ukraine of attempting to assassinate President Vladimir Putin with a drone strike on the Kremlin.
According to a Kremlin statement circulating the media, two drones were utilized in the attack, aimed at the Kremlin in the early hours of May 3.

Russia also alleges that its radar warfare systems destroyed the drones. Moscow has called the attack a terrorist strike and an assassination attempt.
Reuters reports that the drones caused debris to fall on Kremlin grounds, but no one was injured. The administration has accused Ukraine of plotting a terrorist attack, while hardliners have demanded that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy be punished immediately.
Ukraine Denies Being Behind Recent Drone Attack
A senior Ukrainian presidential official refuted the claims, calling them the most serious leveled by Moscow against Kyiv in the 14-month conflict. According to the official, Moscow is planning a major terrorist provocation.
On the other hand, Mykhailo Podolyak, the Ukrainian President's adviser, denied Ukraine's involvement in the incident, claiming that it resulted from Russia's preparations for a large-scale terrorist provocation in the coming days.
Podolyak has also stated that hitting the Kremlin accomplished no military goals for Ukraine.
What's next for Russia?
The Kremlin has stated that Russia reserves the right to retaliate, and hardliners have demanded that weapons capable of stopping and destroying Ukraine's terrorist regime be used.
The Guardian tells us that the Victory Day parade will go as planned despite the alleged attack, according to the state news agency TASS. The city of Moscow's mayor, Sergei Sobyanin, has imposed an immediate ban on unlicensed drone flying.
Victory Day is a key national holiday honoring Nazi Germany's defeat in World War II that Putin uses to mobilize Russians behind his "special military operation" in Ukraine. The event is marked by a massive military parade on Red Square, where seating has already been set up.
Tracing Cross-border Attacks
Since the beginning of the war, Russia has accused Ukraine of numerous cross-border attacks.
In December, Kyiv reportedly launched strikes on a Russian airbase that housed strategic bomber jets with nuclear weapons. In February, a drone crashed around 70 miles from Moscow's downtown.
Last month, a horrific bomb blast rocked a "Street Bar" cafe in the country's capital, killing a military blogger identified as Vladlen Tatarsky and injuring 19 people.
Kyiv usually fails to claim responsibility for assaults on Russia or the Russian-annexed Crimea, although authorities have frequently made cryptic or humorous statements about such attacks.
The alleged strike coincides with increased tensions between Russia and Ukraine, with Russia massing soldiers around the border. Ukraine has accused Moscow of deploying thousands of troops on its edge, which Russia has denied.
The US and its allies have expressed alarm over the developing war and encouraged Russia to de-escalate it.
