Say goodbye to the good old days of gas-powered flame grillers from Chipotle, as the company revealed its plans to go electric with its 100 new branches in the country. The goal for the popular chain restaurant is to reduce its greenhouse gas contributions to the environment to which its gas grills have contributed in the past.
This change will initially center on the 100 new locations of Chipotle, aligning with its long-term goal of reducing its greenhouse emissions by half come 2030.
Chipotle is Going Electric, Saying Goodbye to Gas-Powered Grills
Chipotle announced in its latest press release that it is bidding farewell to its reliance on gas-powered grills and the company will soon favor electric ones to reduce the greenhouse gas its thousands of branches produce nationwide.
The company's sustainability campaign will utilize electric grills that do not rely on fire and combustion to cook their meat, after many years of doing so.
Its new design centers on an electric-powered approach, which does not only center on changing the gas grills, but also a new power management system that will regulate energy for its heating, ventilation, refrigeration, and more.
Chipotle also partnered with Anomaly to create a new short film called "Human Nature," something which the company aims to air on national TV as an ad about caring for the environment.

100 New Locations by 2024 with Electric Grills for its 2030 Goals
With Chipotle's new announcement of electric grills, the company claimed that this new electric-powered design will center on 100 new locations that it will open by 2024.
The company is on track to reduce its carbon emissions and greenhouse gasses by half, with 2030 as its target date to complete its clean transition.
Is Going Electric the Way to Go?
As seen in the automotive industry now, the shift from gas-guzzler internal combustion engines (ICEs) to electric-powered vehicles is a significant change for the environment, with the US planning to reduce its carbon emissions for the world. With the significant effort of the government towards this, the numbers are now rising, in favor of clean energy cars.
However, there are still considerable amounts of electricity that are produced from coal-powered power plants that convert this into usable power, and there is a planned change in those as well. Different innovations are looking to look for alternative energy sources, using captured air and turning it into electricity, as inspired by an enzyme.
With the many industries on the rise towards clean energy development in the country, the goal is to transform its different elements towards reducing the amount of greenhouse emissions it produces to alleviate global warming and other damages.
Among those who are making this change is Chipotle, with their commitment to clean energy by using electric grills and letting go of their gas-powered ones from multiple branches, coming next year.
