Kuo Says Apple iPhone 15 Pro Won't Have Solid-State Buttons, Expects 'Traditional' Design

The "unresolved technical issues" are to be blamed for this downgrade.

Ming-Chi Kuo, an Apple analyst who previously predicted that iPhone would get satellite connectivity, claims that the upcoming iPhone 15 Pro models will ditch solid-state buttons.

The prominent leaker believes that the iPhone maker won't release this feature for the next-gen smartphone since the company will stick to its traditional design this time due to "unresolved technical issues before mass production."

According to the latest report by Macrumors, Apple will have a huge change in the buttons of iPhone 15 Pro units because of unspecified product design issues.

Jeff Pu and Shelly Choi tackled the report about removing solid-state buttons in a research note with Haitong International Securities.

According to the two analysts, the Cupertino giant will not add these volume and power buttons for the next iPhone series, and they might return once iPhone 16 series launches in 2024.

What Can We Potentially See in Place of Solid-State Buttons?

The solid-state buttons will be replaced with two Taptic Engines featuring feedback for the iPhone 15 Pro. It's quite similar to the old feature we once saw on iPhone 7's Home Button.

According to GSM Arena, the Action Button will replace the existing iPhone 14 feature. The news outlet says it's inspired by the Apple Watch Ultra, where the button is just right above the volume rocker.

All iPhone models released in the next few years will have USB-C ports. Removing the Lightning port will be a part of Apple's compliance with the Universal Charger Law of the EU.

According to Ming-Chi Kuo, the Pro models will get a high-speed connection exclusively for a UFS 3.2 or Thunderbolt 3. We won't see it anywhere from other iPhone variants.

Previous iPhone 15 Rumors You Need to Hear Once Again

Even though Apple remains silent about iPhone 15's release date, several reports have already spat out rumors about its possible features.

The Verge notes that leaker ShrimpApplePro said the new iPhone 15 Pro would have a mute button. Another rumor claims the Pro Max Ultra variant will have a more subdued camera bump.

Back in March, Tech Times wrote that iPhone 15 is set to receive "state of the art" Sony sensors which could be the biggest camera upgrade that every iPhone fan should see.

Since these are all just rumors, take this information with a grain of salt. Until there's no such word coming from Apple, it will be hard to believe what these leakers fed to the public.
