If you enjoy binge-watching classic TV shows and spending time in virtual reality, today is your lucky day.
Peacock TV, the latest app to land on the Meta shop, now allows virtual reality enthusiasts in the United States and select territories to enjoy premium entertainment content, CNET reports.
Watch Your Favorite Shows on VR!
Meta announced in a blog post on Wednesday, April 12, that Meta Quest 2 and Quest Pro headsets users can now download the app to watch TV shows, movies, and sports, including popular shows like Poker Face and The Office.
Furthermore, new Peacock TV subscribers who use Meta Quest devices can get Peacock Premium for free, making it an appealing option for those seeking a unique entertainment experience.
Now, here is the catch. The offer, however, is only available to those 18 years or older who live in the United States, American Samoa, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico, or the United States Virgin Islands and have registered an eligible device by April 11, 2023.
Qualified users will receive Peacock Premium free of charge for three months. Meanwhile, those who register eligible Meta VR devices before April 11, 2024, can use the service for free for a year.
Exclusive Content from Peacock Premium
Peacock Premium is known for its exclusive content, including local NBC news broadcasts and TV shows like Chicago Med, available through its $10 monthly ad-free Premium Plus subscription.
NBCUniversal's streaming platform has a vast content library, with over 80,000 hours of original programming, including beloved classics and current shows.
Popular shows such as The Office, Parks and Recreation, and Modern Family, as well as live events such as Sunday Night Football and WWE matches, are available to subscribers.
Peacock Premium subscribers have even more options, such as access to current episodes of shows like The Voice and hit series like Downton Abbey and Battlestar Galactica. Peacock has become a top destination for streaming entertainment due to its extensive collection.
Now let's talk about streaming quality. The highest resolution currently available on any streaming service is 4K, twice the quality of 1080P.
The high-dynamic range is a new video technology that improves the appearance of colors and shadows. According to Rolling Stone, 4K and HDR are only available to Peacock Premium subscribers.
More from Meta VR Soon
Due to the collaboration, CNET tells us that more content from studios such as Blumhouse and The Office will be introduced to the metaverse. Meta already provides access to Netflix, Prime Video, and Showtime (US only) as part of its streaming TV options.
Adding VR to Peacock TV marks a significant advancement in the entertainment industry as more streaming services seek to provide immersive experiences to their users. As a result, Meta Quest 2 and Quest Pro headset owners can expect more content deals in the coming months.
